Chapter #5

The next day

    by: Unknown
The forest eerily quiet, save for some bird echoing in the distance and a frog croaking nearby. Thick fog surrounded the party as they made their way through the undergrowth, following Connor in a straight line.

"So, you got any idea where to look for to find these scoundrels," asked John, growing a little impatient even though they have only been walking for 5 minutes.

“Shhh, keep your voice down, my big friend," said the mouse as he made sign to everyone to quiet down a little as he kept moving on with his arrow pointed forward, "They are telling me the right way to follow.”

John frowned in confusion. "Who the hell is telling you that?'' asked John, ignoring the mouse's order.

Was this guy playing games with them? He really hoped not. He would lose the little amount of cool he had then.

“What do you mean with who? The trees can talk, you know?” he said still keeping the voice down, "They are telling me they saw them at a lake nearby...”

he then suddenly turned to talk to his bow

“...Yes lighting, I can see them too...”

John gave the mouse a baffled look. Was this guy crazy?

"What is up with this guy?" he whispered to Marty. "He's talking to trees and arrows.''

Marty shrugged and said, " I really don't know, he is a bit cooky.''

John said, "Do you think he is leading us into a trap or something?"

"I don't know," said Marty, "But we need to be prepared if he does.''

Suddenly, they heard Connor shout up ahead. He had found something.

The mouse was hiding behind a bush that was on the side of the lake.

"There they are," he whispered, "You see that house on the lake? It’s them! I’m sure that if we get closer, we can apprehend them.''

The house he was talking about was an old, decrepit thing standing on a small island, surrounded by shallow waters, but there was clearly something going in inside, golden light shining through the window, the chimney puffing out strange multicolored smoke. Yup, they were certainly making some potions in there.

They could also see the dark outline of someone standing at the back door.

"We approach slowly," said John, "and sneak into the back. We need to give these guys a surprise attack.''

“That does sound like a great plan," said Connor, "Once we reach the house, Tabitha and I will sneak closer and once we knocked out that one guy, the rest of you will get inside to finish the job. I’m sure with all the mass you have, you’ll be one strong charger!”

John ignored his remark, too focused on the task at hand, and watched the two heading down to the house, swimming across the shallow body of water and heading to the back door of the creaky building.

"Okay, let's go," said John to the rest of his companions. "We don't have much time.''

While they followed the fat dragon, Tabitha and Connor were already near the back door, hiding around the corner.

"Okay, here’s what we do," said Connor, "we knock out the guy who’s guarding the door, and once we did that we need to first of all hide unconscious body. Then we’ll wait for the others to charge in”

Tabitha nodded and they got to work, effortlessly knocking out the first guard who was taking a smoke from his pipe.

Soon John arrived, and he waited for Connor and Tabitha to regroup with them.

"On the count of three we barge in," he said when they finally arrived, "One....two...THREE!''

And so the group stormed inside, surprising the two goons who were making the potions in a big cauldron.

“Sorry Guys, you’re coming with us!” said Marty as he grabbed one of the goons from the back, holding him still that Cassy could cast a sleep spell on him.

The other goon cried out in surprise and threw at them the first thing he could get his hands on: a potion.

It flew through the air, hitting....
