Elizabeth had gotten Chris to animatedly talk about his college plans. She sat there smiling. In her mind Liz stood in the background watching Elizabeth's body with a mask instead of her face at the table with Chris.
“and there's a real restaurant run by the culinary arts program!” Chris said.
Liz chuckled at her brothers genuine enthusiasm, and permitted Elizabeth a slight grin. Liz said “Chris you're gonna do great” which came out of Elizabeth as “Chris you're going to do great things, I'm sure.”
Chris’s mouth curled into a smile at that, and in response Liz’s grin turned into a full smile. The conversation continued with Elizabeth letting Chris do most of the talking.
The food came and only after Chris took his first bite of food did his smile disappear.
