Inside each one of these little ampoule is an artificial viral vector which, when injected into the bloodstream of an organism, will infect every cell with a chunk of DNA programming. Lifting one of the glass ampoules out of its moulded foam, you rub away the frost condensed on the side with your thumb, uncovering the batch number and barcode inscribed into the glass and below that, the brief description of the plasmid's effects.
