"Your first partner has been selected."

"Your first partner has been selected." she informs you. Sighing, you realise she must've given this speech several times already. She continues on, "You will still work as an engineer." She offers in a soothing tone. "But, you'll do it as a woman... you'll appreciate the need for different goals to be combined."

"I have a partner, too." she added, with a sick look on her face at the confession.

She gives a deep, resigned sigh, "For the project to succeed, the colony needs every woman to have at least one birth every year, for the first five years for the project to be viable."

Your thighs clamp together, in self-defence, you don't like that aspect of the plan at all!

"With this second wave, you'll... we'll have to take our share of that burden." Doctor Haslem clearly just as unsettled by the prospect.

"Any male you meet will be from the first wave, and will be the minority. With our arrival, the men only make 10% of the population, and..."

Her voice breaks, quavers and falls silent. The defeat clear on her face, and having to argue it with you, with everyone who expected to wake up as a man, is too much for her.
