He knows about the book- but tries to hide it

Mat's eyes went wide for a second, his face turning pale. "I-I think that belongs to a friend of mine." his voice quivering, he said. "He probably left it here by mistake." he walked towards you, his hand outstretched. "I'll make sure he gets it back."

"Hold on, now." curious, you said. "You look like you just saw a ghost. Did something happen today?"

"Not yet...." almost under his breath, Mat muttered.

"What was that?" standing up, you asked.

"Just please give me the book." his face losing color, Mat pleaded. "You wouldn't like it anyway."

"You seem very interested in getting this back." slightly suspicious, you said. "Is there something I should know?"

Mat smiled slightly. "It's a boy thing."

With that, the grabbed the book.
