James gasped, seeing the flame harmlessly dance in your hand. He had just returned from a year he was still trying to completely wrap around his head. The year before, he learned that he and his father possessed the power of chaotic energy, making them mad scientists. Tex and Mat would soon reach the age where their bodies and minds would produce this energy as well. However only boys possessed such power and James believed that Jessica would be left out as she was a girl. Only dad informed him that Jessica possessed magic but she would have to discover this on her own and, once discovered, she would have to be sent to a special school to learn control. Being the eldest son, James had to undergo special training so to protect himself and others from his own powers.
James readily agreed to this and left for this special schooling as he was very close to his brothers and sister as well as his friends, Jack and Tonya. He did not wish any harm to come to anyone because of any misuse of his power, hence he had to prove he was responsible before receiving his laboratory. It disturbed James to have to leave without telling anyone but father believed it was for the best that they do not know of the family secret until the time was right. Also, the family enjoyed playing friendly pranks on each other and, with mad science in the fray, those pranks would intensify. James smiled, knowing you would likely end up as 'one of the boys' during these pranks, though he nor father would allow you to be kept that way for too long.
As James entered the house, he expected to find Tex but he instead found you looking into a chaotic science book. Worse, you also had a magic book and from what he had heard, the two were practically identical. "That is not possible." whispering, James said. "The book has millions of sensors, woven into the pages, to only allow boys with chaotic energy to read the text..." he gulped. "More disturbing still, where did she get that magic book!?"
