"I found it in the sitting room." Honestly, you replied. "It turns out that Matt borrowed it from you." Seeing dad's face harden, you quickly added, "I'm sure he didn't mean any harm as he told me you said it would be his eventually."

Dad sighed. "Matt needs to learn patience." Serious, he said. "There are things in that book that can cause great harm if done improperly." You jumped as a sparking globe of energy appeared and rotated over dad's open hand. "This, for example."

"How did you do that?" Startled, you asked.

Dad smiled slightly. "This is called a spark." Calmly he explained. "Magic or chaotic power as we prefer to call it, runs in our family. We do not consider ourselves witches but mad scientists."

"I thought a mad scientist was a person who studied science in a reckless or dangerous manner." Confused, you said. "Also, magic is not real... is it?"

Dad chuckled as he cancelled out the 'spark'. "What I and your brothers can do would appear reckless and dangerous to the 'untrained' eye." Smiling, he said. "However, I can assure you that we are not what the movies depict as mad scientists. Also, magic, real magic, is very real."

You did not like where this was going. "What sort of lesson?"

"I wish to make you a little boy and tell Matt that you were accidentally changed because you had dropped the book and it 'went off'." Smiling, dad said.

"What!?" Startled, you asked. "How long would you keep me like that!?"

"Not long." Smiling, dad said. "A few days, maybe."

"I- I don't think I like that idea, dad." Inching towards the door, you said.

"I promise you will be changed back before the weekend is over." Calmly, dad said. "I just want to give Matt a taste of what can happen if something goes wrong."

"That's what I'm afraid of." Worried, you said. "What if something goes wrong?"

"You'll be fine." Raising his hand, dad said. "I'll make it up to you later, I promise."

Before you could protest, you saw the world around you suddenly grow as you shrank down in size. You screamed in fright as you felt your inside changing just before you passed out. When you woke up, dad was sitting on the floor next to you, smiling.

"What did you do to me?" Surprised by your new voice, you asked.

"It's only for a day or two, honey." Smiling, dad soothed. "As I said, I'll make this up to you."

He then helped you to your feet and pointed to a full length mirror on closed door. Upon looking at it, you screamed seeing that you were now a...
