"That's weird." Walking up to you, Matt said. "Who would buy a book about mad scientists?"
He casually took the book from your hand and gasped before dropping it to the floor. You became concerned as your little brother looked as if he had just been electrocuted. His hair was almost literally standing straight up and he had a stunned look on his face. "Are you okay?" Worried, you asked. "What happened?"
"I- I'm not sure." Shaken, Matt said. "The second I touched that book, I got a jolt like I had just stuck a key into a light socket."
"Seriously?" Surprised, you asked. "It didn't do anything to me."
Matt pouted. "You don't believe me, do you?"
"I believe you, Matt." Reassuringly, you said. "Your hair stood on end the moment you touched the book. What I want to know is why."
"I'm not touching that book again." stepping back, Matt said. "It's probably boring anyway."
You watched Matt run out of the room before turning to the book lying on the floor. You picked it up without any incident except for the fact you were now drawn to open it and gaze upon the pages within. After what had happened to Matt, you were hesitant to follow that urge. If he got a shock from just touching it, what would happen if you peered into the pages?
