Frozen, you stand there looking right from your spot on your side of the fence, it wasn't that tall and you could easily see your best friends upper body over it, when he was standing. This was new though, you weren't expecting your friend for so long to suddenly stand there, looking like a dog. Dallas stands there, looking straight at you, blinking a moment his gaze going back and forth before he looks around to the sides of his own house.
"Jesse, you okay? Wait, is there someone doing something?" He looks around again, not finding any perpetrators, he twist back to you.
Getting a hold of yourself, you work up the nerve to give him a little smile before stepping closer to the fence. You were shaken to be true, but this was your best bud after all, though he does still look more than a little worried as he scans you carefully, one of his brown furry brows raised up inquisitively before stepping closer himself.
"Y-yeah I'm fine, Dallas, you get all that junk that was in your yard?"
Dallas curiously looks on a moment more before grinning brightly, showing off those twin rows of teeth of his, he holds up a very small bundle of sticks that he had plucked up just a few moments before and shakes them around.
"You know it, nothing all that big, to be honest, as much as my parents like our yard absolutely trim, they don't have me come out when just anything happens to it. I felt I needed to get some fresh air." He chuckles.
"Oh yeah, still doesn't stop you from being a bit of a neat freak." You snicker, to which he frowns and lets out a light snort.
Dallas smirks and steps closer still, looking down at you...
Wait, down?
You look over him again and sure enough, he was quite a bit taller than you were, you remember him being around your height last time you saw him, you certainly remember him being human as well. He was wearing a t-shirt and some shorts, his long bushy tail coming out of the back and wagging slowly behind him. Dallas' body was also a bit more toned than what you remember as well. This was all impossible though, no one could've turned into an entirely different species at the drop of a hat. It had to be a trick maybe he was wearing a costume, and this was being recorded on tv.
Your best friend opens his mouth to speak, just as you jump back to his surprise, his tall ears standing at attention as you point at him.
"This is a joke, isn't? Got a camera somewhere, maybe hidden in the bushes, right?" You say, pointing at him.
Once again, he looks puzzle and turns to look at his bushes before looking back at you, his ears swiveling around as though he were trying to listen for anything. Dallas then proceeded to sniff the air a little and walk around, soon after, he simply shook his head.
"Listen, Jesse, if there were anyone sneaking around, I would know!" He points at himself before looking curiously over you again.
"Yeah, I guess you would, but what's with the new look?" Your voice edges into worry, and after his nose twitched, Dallas seems even more bothered himself.
"New look, what new look, I've always looked like this, and you know these are my favorite shirt and shorts, bud. That's not what I'm concerned about though, are you afraid of me?" He asked, he seemed genuinely hurt at the thought of scaring you, and more than a little confused.
Trying to assuage his fears you shake your head briskly. "Of course not, just a little surprised is all."
Dallas seemed to take that for what you meant, or at least tried to mean and settled down again, his muzzle turning back up into a smirk.
"Yeah, sure. Listen, up for our usual plans?" He ask, smiling
With all this surprise of him being a dog, you had forgotten what you guys were going to do, you nod your head. indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
