You slowly echo Andy's words after him. "The… carnival? Wouldn't you rather go somewhere like the beach? You love sand!"
Now you're getting strange looks from the rest of your family. "Jesse, are you just confused today?" Your father approaches you and lays a hand on your shoulder, his unbroken gaze meeting your eyes. "Andy can't go to the beach! Don't you remember why?"
"Yeah!" Andy quickly chimed in, and you can't help but shudder. Your brother had become a Snow Leopard… instead of you! Why didn't you have the opportunity instead? You were practically seething with envy.
Andy cintinued to explain, "the sand gets absolutely everywhere in my fur! And I never liked swimming in water, so that's why we can't go to the pool."
That… actually made fair sense. You sigh aloud, and agree to head to the carnival - apparently today's not a school day? Sweet.
You and Andy say your goodbyes to the rest of the family - your mother claimed she wanted to also attend the carnival, but you could see the look in her eyes… as you nudged the front door shut behind Andy, you noticed a distinctive noise following your feline brother.
When Andy walked, while his paw-steps seemed otherwise silent, you could hear a slight slapping noise, as if your brother had been whacking the ground with a wet sponge. Naturally, you asked him about the sound once you caught up to him.
Andy stopped next to the car door to stare at you, visibly confused. "You already know this, Jesse. It's sort of an awkward question, but… I can only sweat through my paw pads, y'see?"
You would've never guessed that response, although now you think about it… hadn't you heard somewherel about cats only sweating through their pads as well? You're going to take a while getting used to your new feline brother.
You slip behind the front wheel, and Andy sits directly behind you, immediately shuffling around as if uncomfortable. You ignore him at first, turning the key in the ignition and changing the gears, indicating right for anyone seeing you driving out the driveway… you had almost forgotten your brother, swept up in the simple action of driving a car, until Andy blurted out, "I can't stretch out back here! There's no room!"
You were about to remind Andy that was how most ordinary people sat in the back of a car, but interrupted yourself almost immediately. Everything else about Andy seemed different, so why not this as well? A curious thought arose in your mind, and forever looking after your younger brother you confidently tell him;
