Alright, this idea is a little odd. Imagine a world ruled by Dragons! The Fire Nation attacked on behalf of their dragon overlords and began to slaughter most of the world. The Northern Water Tribe discovered a way to harness the various elements of the dragons growing knowledge of bending and applied to humans called Wyverns. These Wyverns had the power of twelve benders and could use various elements. Even elements that made no sense! Like the element of speed would be an element of body like strength or stamina. These benders could their bodies via specific exercises granting them great well speed, strength and stamina. Those of the knowledge benders could use basically in Sokka's words, Magic.
