Another day, another Archery Club practice. Yukari felt that she didn't necessarily need to be in the club to keep her skills sharp, since she got plenty of real experience with her bow fighting Shadows in Tartarus; however, it was better than not being in any club, and Yukari had to admit that she enjoyed the company of the other club members.
Well, most of them...
The biggest detriment to Yukari's enjoyment of her club came in the form of Kaya Ebihara, a skilled archer with an ego to match. Yukari was arguably the best member of the club, but Kaya had an abundance of natural talent that practically made up for her lack of real experience. Kaya knew she was good, and she wasn't shy about letting Yukari know. Yukari had been waiting for a chance to put Kaya in her place, and today seemed to be the day.
"Not bad, Yukari-chan! That was almost a bulls-eye! Almost." Kaya said in a sickly sweet tone, trying to get a rise out of the other girl.
"Well, they can't all be perfect, Kaya. You should know all about that." Yukari sniped back, knowing that she shouldn't take the bait but unable to resist.
"Being perfect? I sure do!" Kaya chirped right back. "I can prove it, if you'd like."
There it was. An opening, an invitation to make a challenge, and Yukari just couldn't ignore it. If Kaya wanted to talk a big game, she'd learn what it can get her into.
"Alright, go ahead and prove it. Let's have a contest, the winner is the undisputed superior archer." Yukari said, watching Kaya's eyes widen in surprise. She figured she had the other girl off-guard, until she heard the response.
"Sure thing, Yukari-chan! But, how about we make it a bit better? The winner is the best archer, and the loser has to do a forfeit!" Kaya said.
Feeling confident that she could defeat Kaya, Yukari gladly accepted the addition to the rules. After she heard Kaya's idea for the forfeit, she almost wished she hadn't.
"Alright, then listen up! The loser of this little competition will have to-"
