You head out to catch the cart that takes you to town. And even that way, the travel takes several hours. You are glad to have gotten an offer so close to it, even if it wasn't a steady one yet. You were only hired for the day, but apparently if you do well today, you will get to work there more often. Every day even. But you also know it must be a little more challenging than an ordinary in, as the payment is good for a trade of it's kind.
The moment you see the walls in the far distance, you get off the cart and turn to the left. It's another long walk, until you come across it. And you are surprised and at the same time intimidated. It does look like an ordinary building to live in telling from it's rough shape, , and Orna, the organizer did say it's huge, but this big? This is crazy, You need to jump just to barely look over the window shelf, and even then, looking in through the window is a whole task of it's own.
After you finally reach the doorframe, which is scaled up just like everything else, Orna rushes hastily past the half-open door. "Oh wonderful." She grabs your left hand with her own and places her right hand on top in the greeting fashion that is accustomed. "An early spirit even. Okay listen. Walk across the ground floor, in the middle room behind the counter, there's a place to change, grab one piece of each and get prepared. Siegfried! We're gonna need a lot more kegs than that! Get a move on!"
As you enter, you notice even inside it looks just like the inn over in town, only that it all is scaled up evenly to be a lot larger. Your head is just above the height of the tables. And upon looking around, you see why. In the corner on the right, drinking from a suitingly sized cup sits an amazon. A woman never less than twice a human's size, and covered in muscles wherever muscles are possible. They usually come up from the south, but from her looks and the clothes she wore, the pelt shoulder piece and the leather and fur she has wrapped around her upper half, she's a nordic Amazon. Which is why her arms, shoulders, leg muscles all of it is all the thicker and probably stronger. After a long sip from her tankard, she looks over to you with a grim face. "What'cha lookin' at?!"
You quickly turn back to walking through the middle. Judging from her clothes, the barmaid, is moving back and forth between kitchen and counter, moving around tankards, staying in the kitchen for a while, then coming back, the more obvious thing was that she was a minotaur. Similarly large to the amazon, actually even a bit bigger, brown fur covering her entire body, and her shape similarly strong but visibly softer than that of the amazon.
So this is it. people who are too large for ordinary human buildings to be in need a place, and this inn is that place for them. "New kid? Right behind me." She distantly remarks, while cleaning one of the mugs and swinging her tail left and right.
You're not really comfortable in the close proximity of a horned creature that can squash you any time, but you don't let that get in your way. You wanted this job and you're going to have it. In the back room, there are shelves with numerous clothing pieces but the most one most obviously meant for you to pick seems to be sort of a broad leather band, that you can fix on your own body, Come to think of it, the mugs, bowls and tankards might be pretty damn hot depending on their content, and this seems perfectly practical for that.
Once you've swung that over your body and prevented it from falling off, to see if the minotaur just nods or if she tells you to get more of it." You move back, but no negative reaction at all. As she turns around with you standing right there, you grow scared and stumble a few steps away. With people her size, your body ends where their thighs start. Upstairs, first door on the right, wait there.", she answers with a bored tone.
Without a word, you just turn around to exactly follow her orders. Beyond where the description leads you lies a room, where -finally - other humans are sitting in a circle playing a card game. "Hey there. Wanna join?" They are all wearing this carrying band and are all humans and therefore of human size, and they're all just around your age.. "What's your name?"
"Jason....I uh come from Greenriver."
"Shrug off the scaredy face." came from a slightly older one, who was wearing more distinct clothes below his body belt. "I've been through four of these nights by now, and it's pretty damn fun."
After a long while of several different card games, the minotaur finally comes upstairs and calls for the rest to come. It's a lot more noisy by then, the tables are filled, the cow-faced woman picks up a tray with mugs lying on it an places it on a table with three southern amazons sitting at it. The guests vary though. Amazons, trolls, ogres, an ettin, everything that would just about fit the scales this place had is sitting here, and enjoying a good time drinkng. And most notably, they're all female. Not a single man among them. You're given a tankard to carry to the table at the right corner. When you turn around though, one of the amazons slaps you on the butt and startles you. And this is where you realize something else. They're all wearing exceptionally little. Not like their folks wear all too much, but even the scarce armor and cloth pieces are missing. And you catch the ettin taking off what little they had to cover their breasts.
And it's not like the tavern isn't lively, but does it really warrant as many human carriers as you are? As you walk back to the front side, the barmaid suddenly takes a pan and a soup spoon and bangs it. "Everyone? Can I have everyone's attention?"
The trolls stop making out, the ettin stops talking to themselves, and everyone ceases what they're doing, to listen. "It is my pleasure, to hereby welcome you all to the twenty-seventh annual night of maternity. It is time to commence."
