Chapter #4You and Hana; Friends til the End by: Big Boy   Growing up, you’ve always heard from friends and classmates that they were never really close to any of their extended family, but that’s just not the case for you. You see, you’ve always been close with your adopted cousin from your mother’s side of the family; Hana. You’ll always remember the first time you met her after your Aunt and Uncle returned from their extended stay in Japan. They had adopted her as a result of an accidental meetup -- she was in need of a home and your Aunt and Uncle were more than willing to give her one. They brought her over to the United States when you and her were both just 7-year old kids, and ever since you grew up the best of friends.
Recently, with the two of you both having turned 18 and graduating for Grover’s High School, you both decided to also go to the same college due to similar interests. You both loved chemistry; you two messing around with the composition of chemicals is actually what left Hana with a permanent streak of pink hair in her usual black locks. She still smiled all the same however, reassuring everyone’s worries that day by simply saying “元気ですよ!” (TRANSLATION: “I’m good!”) in her usual honey-sweet voice.
Now that you two were in college, Hana had decided to make a bit of a wager at your grad party the month before. She bet that she could make a better project than you, something that would prove her to be the superior chemist in the family. You snickered at her American-found boldness, and accepted the challenge to create something big. What she wouldn’t realize however is that SHE would be the one to become big, as would everyone else.
Thats right, you’re project that you chose to one-up your beautifully intelligent cousin was going to be a breakthrough for science; you were going to be the first person ever in history to shrink in size. You had been building up this moment, having worked on this idea your whole life. Now seemed to be the best time to reveal this to the world. However, knowing that your cousin was equally intelligent, you had worry that she could be working on something groundbreaking as well. Thus you decided you just had to know what she was concocting.
You snuck over to her house at night, just right after she got home from her shift at Starbucks. You made your way into the house, luckily your Aunt and Uncle were on another journey so it was just her living there at the moment. You snuck up the stairs and quickly took out a vial of your shrinking concoction and poured it over you and your clothes. In an instant, you began to shrink all the way down to an inch as the hallway grew and grew in size. The glass vial however was not so lucky, as it fell from the air and crashed loudly throughout the house. “What was that?” you heard the booming voice of your cousin ring out from her closed bedroom door. And in a moment, her door cracked open to reveal her massive figured in front of you.
You were in awe, you’ve never used the shrinking concoction in a non-testing environment before! You stared down your cousin, from her polished pink toes to her whale sized lips. “She’s huge!” you thought to yourself. You look at her fearfully, realizing you were out in the open. Luckily, the darkness of the night kept you and your shattered vial out of sight for the girl, and you watched as she shrugged it off and made it back to her bed. Carefully taking action, you snuck into her bedroom through the now cracked open door and had to constantly keep focus as the massive room was a source of constant amazement for you.
You turned your attention towards your cousin who was sitting on her bed, foot dangling off the edge as she was diverting her focus between eating a bowl of chicken and rice and writing down her results of an apparent test she had performed for her project earlier! “Thats it!” you thought to yourself. You thought if you could just read her notes, you would be able to figure out just what she was plotting! This is it. You could make your way towards her bed and swaying foot, or you could stay back and observe her more before you make your call. What are you going to do?  indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
