"It will be in a week." you say. "Come on. I just want to see it."
"Fine." she says. "Stick around after the party and I'll show you."
When the other guests have left, you help clean up then she leads you into the spare bedroom which she uses as a lab.
In the centre of the room is a chair, covered with electrodes. A bundle of wires runs from the chair to a computer.
"This is your time machine?" you ask.
"Well." she says. "Not yet."
"What's wrong with it?" you ask.
"The targetting." she says.
"What do you mean?" you ask. "Who are you trying to shoot."
"No. You don't understand" she says. "I can create the mental wormhole to the moment a photo was taken but not the right person."
"You're right. I don't understand." you say. "You mean you could end up in someone else's body?"
"Yeah." she says, thinking for a moment. Then she adds with a smile "You could."
"What are you thinking?" you ask, a little concerned by her smile.
"I was only thinking of jumping back into myself." She says. "But then I can only go back as far as the day I was born. If I can target anyone I can go back as far as there have been photos. I could meet Einstein."
