Just a stupid, joke wish

“Oh, stop being ridiculous, Susan!” you laugh. “I'm not falling for this dumb prank of yours. There's no such thing as magic. And I don't believe for a second that you're actually only eleven years old!”
“Try it,” she said again with earnest seriousness. “I'm not lying Dan. Try it yourself. Only let me hold the page while you're writing. Then we'll both be aware of whatever magical changes happen.”
“This is ridiculous,” you say with a chuckle.
Nevertheless, Susan reaches out and grasps the top of the notebook with one of her hands.
“Just write something, Dan,” she urges. “Write 'What If' and then whatever you want to have happen.”
“Nothing is going to happen,” you mutter, pulling out a pen from your back pocket. “Because there's no such thing as magic.”
