"I can't believe this this!" Twilight screamed. "Everything we've ever done is a lie? Everything you ever trained and prepare me for? And you want me to help perpetuate it?!"
Celestia shook her head.
"It's not just a lie. You and your friends have genuinely helped secure Equestria countless times."
"How?! By blasting fakes and actors with magic? How does that help ANYPONY?!"
"By deterring REAL villains. Fighting these fake villains ensures nopony is seriously injured or killed-"
Twilight glared at Celestia and stomped towards her.
"-But what about Cadance?! You left her in the Crystal Cavern for months!"
Celestia met Twilight's gaze.
"She too understood. Like you, she did not like the fact we were deceiving ponies, but understood the lives that would be saved. We did not leave her as badly as she appeared, she wore makeup and we visited her every day."
"What about my brother?"
"I put him into a half awake trance." Luna answered. "It left him tired, but in no pain."
"What about me?!" There were tears in Twilight eyes. "Your lies turned my friends and family against me!"
Celestia bent her head down till it was level with Twilight's.
"I am truly sorry about that, but we feared an actual war between the changelings could be brewing and we had to act. I did not want you to go through that, but to save the lives of countless ponies and changelings I saw no other way..."
Twilight looked away, her teeth clenched.
"I can't believe this... Celestia, I spent my entire life looking up to you!" Twilight backed away then turned. "I have to tell everypony...."
Luna stepped forward.
"Can you not imagine the unrest that would cause? The lives that might be lost in response?"
Twilight stopped in her tracks.
Luna went on
"Those lies are responsible for the peace and prosperity around you. Those lies are way Equestria had hardly ever known war or terrorism. It is why the guards, including your brother only have to worry about petty criminals. How do you think everypony will react if you take that away?"
Twilight sighed.
"I still don't like it, but fine. I'll keep your secret."
Celestia faintly smiled.
"Good. And will you play your role?"
"No!"
Celestia was undettered.
"If you don't, we'll just find someone else to do it. However if you do it, you will be able to minimize any collateral damage and ensure no pony is harmed, including your friends."
Twilight gritted her teeth and stood in the same spot for several seconds.
