Bolin beamed at hearing this news, not only was he finally getting a girlfriend, but said girlfriend was The Fricking Avatar! Sure Korra was rough around the edges, but he thought her rough edges were charming. Also she was not only a very pretty girl, but a very pretty girl that could kick ass and loved to have a good time. Needless to say, Bolin felt like he hit the jackpot.
"Absolutely!" he cheered as he scooped her up in a bear hug which she happily returned.
"Ahem." The new couple froze in place before turning behind them slowly to meet the Airbending family. Pema and the children all had varying degrees of amusement on their faces, while Tenzin was stone faced and his robes bellowed slightly from a breeze of his own making. "Are we interrupting something?" he asked rhetorically.
"Tenzin! Everyone, hey!" Korra exclaimed nervously. "Did you..enjoy the match hehe?"
"Korra, when we agreed to come to this match you said nothing about you participating in it."
"It wasn't planned I swear!" she hastefully explained "Their Waterbender was a no show and I couldn't just let them forfeit! They're my friends and Pro-Bending means more to them then you realize, I had to do something!"
"It appears to me that you are more then friends with this..Bolin was it?"
"Yep that's me! Bolin of The Fire Ferrets at your service, sir!" he announced nervously while standing at attention like a solider, even giving the Airbending master a salute for good measure.
"*Giggle* He seems like a nice young man." Pema said playfully.
"He's cute. I can see why you like him Korra." Jinora teased.
"He's funny looking!" Ikki giggled at his goofy posture.
Meelo was silent for a minute as he gave Bolin a once over. "Meh. She could do better." he shrugged.
As Korra was drowning in embarrassment over their comments on her new boyfriend, Bolin felt like a prison inmate on death row from the stare Tenzin was giving him. And as he slowly approached the young Earthbender, who was now sweating bullets, the podium went silent as everyone waited with baited breath on what Tenzin would do next.
"Since you have proven yourself to be a positive influence on Korra thus far, you have my blessing to pursue this relationship." he stated calmly, sending a wave of relief to everyone present that he also approved of Bolin. "But let me make one thing clear," his voice now feeling like the calm before a storm "If you hurt her in anyway, you will answer to me. Are we clear?"
"As crystal, sir!" Bolin squeaked out feeling like he was about to wet himself.
"Good." Tenzin said pleasantly, his ominous aura disappearing.
"Dear," Pema said gently wrapping her arms around her husbands shoulders to help relieve the rest of the tension in the room " why do we all go out for dinner tonight? It will give us all a chance to get to know Bolin properly and celebrate Korra taking her first steps in her Airbending training."
Tenzin hummed thoughtfully to himself while stroking his beard "An excellent idea." he agreed much to their children's delight, they have gone out as a family in a while. Pema sent a subtle wink to Bolin to let him know that he had her full support, much to his relief.
"Bolin, why do you show everyone the place you took me last night?" Korra suggested, excited in both everyone approval in their new relationship and getting to eat some of her favorite foods from home again.
"Good idea!" Bolin said happily "We should a remember to invite Mako too."
"Aww, do we have to?" Korra pouted.
"Yes we do. He's my brother and your new teammate, you're both gonna have to learn to get along." he said with a playfully stern tone.
"Okay." she pouted more with arms crossed.
He chuckled at her cuteness before he remembered something important "Oh, I should also introduce you to Pabu before we leave!"
"Who's Pabu?"
"My best friend and our teams mascot! You're gonna love him."
Sure enough Korra instantly fell in love with Bolin's Fire Ferret and Pabu quickly warmed up to her as well. And the rest of the night went by quickly but pleasantly as The Airbending Family bonded very well with The Pro-Bending Brothers. Sure Mako was a bit of a stick in mud at first, but even he was able to get over himself and have some fun. Before the new couple parted ways for the time being they shared sweet embrace and a quick but heartfelt first kiss. It was an adorable sight to all who saw it. And as the night went on said couple stared into the distance of the bay from their rooms, pondering what the future held for them before drifting off into a peaceful sleep.  indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
