You put the card down on the table so everybody can see it. Emma is the first person to react.
"Yay! I get to be Jack! I get to be tall!"
I, on the other hand, was devastated. I would have to be a little kid again, and even worse, a little girl! I wouldn't be able to drive for another eight years, which was totally unfair, as I had just gotten my driver's license! And worst of all, I'd have to act all girly and like a kid! This was going to be horrible!
"Okay, well, it looks like Jack and Emma are swapping, so that means me and Maddy will swap!" said mom, "Now, let's get this machine fired up!"
I groaned. I couldn't believe this was actually happening.
Mom found an instruction manual.
"Okay, it says here that each of you have to get into one of the pods."
Emma runs into the first pod, and you walk into the second one.
"Okay, now I'm going to close this door and pull this lever, and..." Her voice is drowned out after the door is shut. Now it's just you in this pod...
