Chapter #5

A new friend?

    by: ItsMe Author IconMail Icon
You gasp awake. You are alive?
Your body feels numb and you can't shake the feel of sorrow. "What happened?" you thought to yourself aloud as you rubbed your sore ribs and limbs. They hurt, but you're sure they aren't broken.
"You were left to die by that friend of yours."
You jump at the sound of the voice behind you. Solace has lied down next to you. You shiver as you examine the body of your captor. What would look like a normal sized person, she is as tall as at least several dozens micen standing on each others shoulders. Her stomach alone could fit four of you, even more if she bothered to chew.
She reaches for you and pets your head and your back, before she grabs you and sits up. She brings you to her face and scans you with her eyes up until they lock with yours. Her breath, her horrible smelling breath grazes its way across your body. It was the warmest you've been in a month, but it was also the most horryfing experience you've come across. Solace could just simply plop you onto her tongue and end your miserable existence. You're sure by the days end, you'd just be left over mush inside her stomach. You were so close to being a mentor too!
Damn you, Keirra, you thought. This was all her fault! How could she do this to you? You were about to cry until your sorrow quickly turned into anger. You wouldn't be in this mess if it wasn't for Keirra! If only you can get your hands on that pipsqueak you'd break her neck. You'll never forgive her for this. "Let me go Solace!" You growl, "I have to kick a runt's ass!"
"What are you going to do to her if I let you go?"
You didn't expect her to even pay attention to you. You haven't had time to think about an answer, so in anger you blurt out the only thing your heart could think of saying. "I'm going to kill her!."
You aren't sure if you meant that, but Solace smiled. She got a kick out of your answer. "Lets make a deal. Keirra, or whatever her name was, managed to get away with the sapphire. I just finished destroying the last little place that thought they could get it. I could just easy sniff her out and track her down, but that would be as boring as steping on her when I had the chance." She stroked your cheek with her index finger, "Instead I want you to show me where she is, and I will show your home some mercy and not kill everyone."
You think it over. What if she is lying? Either way the colony will die if she is, but a bigger question still lingers in your mind. "What will happen to me when you find her?" you say confidently, keeping your eye contact with Solace.
"I will let you live with me. It is better than it sounds. You can sleep by my side, eat whatever food you want whenever you want, and I won't leave you to die by an angry cat so you'll never worry about predators."
"Whats the catch?" you inquired "That sounds like I'd have to do more than just show you where I live."
She smiles again, a sign that she is taking a liking to you. "You have a good head on your shoulders. I want you to scout around for other colonies. I don't want to destroy all of them, only the ones that take precious things.".
"Precious? Like the sapphire?" You blinked, "What about food?"
"If you catch anyone in the act of stealing food from me, then bring them to me. If they managed to make it back home with the food, it's theirs to keep." She explains.
You ponder "What if I refuse to work for you?"
She hummed in hesitation, perhaps thinking that her deal wasn't good enough. "For your confidence you have shown while talking to me, I will let you live out your old life; until you do something wrong of course. But come on, do you think you could pass up my offer? Now if you would be so kindly, where do you think Keirra went?"
