Chapter #4New Shoe Size by: Ëtalfni “Let’s work from the bottom up,” chuckled the ghost as she focused what little magic she had on the very bottom of Isaac’s body. “Hope you don’t mind size 5 in women’s feet!”
While the spirit worked her magic on Isaac, her host was still trying to remember how to be a human being. He was getting ready for his work study, which involved serving coffee to other tired students at the small shop on campus. It was a short job of 3 hours, but it gave Isaac a little extra money around campus. He had put on some half-decent clothes and was about to slip into his shoes when the transformation began.
Isaac felt an odd tingle in his toes as he tied his shoes up tight. He ignored it, completely unaware that the ghost was slowly starting to compress his feet to be more dainty and match her own when she was among the living. He didn’t even notice the fact that his shoes, a size 12 in mens, were considerably looser than usual.
“Must be time for new shoes,” he muttered as he stepped out into the bright morning light.
“Boy, this kid is thick,” the ghost thought to herself. “Here I was worried I might have to devote some of my magic to mental manipulation.”
But the ghost didn’t want to risk tempting her luck with how smooth the transformation was going. If Isaac became aware of what she was doing to him, he could fight back and even take control. She was the invader and it was Isaac’s body. But the more of the ghost rubbed off on her host, the less he could fight back. That was why she planned to take it as slow as possible.
Even shrinking his foot was done in waves. The phantom did a little as Isaac walked to work, just so that his shoes were slipping but not enough so that they would fall off completely. He grumbled as he walked about how worn out his footwear was, completely ignorant to the fact that it was his own feet that were a good few inches shorter than they were at the start of the day.
By the time Isaac got to work, the ghost had worn herself out.
“Damn,” she said as her magic fizzled. “Am I that weak? This is going to take longer than I thought…”
While the ghost mulled over her predicament, Isaac laced up his shoes tighter and stopped into his job.
The small coffee shop was situated in the building of one of Isaac’s campus halls, where there was a lot of through traffic for students seeking relief from exams. At the moment, there was only one person on hand working the counter.
“About time!” said the barista. “I figured you had slept in or something.”
The girl was Isaac’s co-worker, a short and stocky lass by the name of Emily. While she couldn’t quite compare to the girth of the ghost inhabiting Isaac’s body, she was definitely on the larger side. Her apron tightly clung around her bloated breasts and hips, which had expanded over the of working at a coffee store. The free donuts on hand for their service did not help her weight problem, but she was still a nice and intelligent girl two years to Isaac’s senior. She had medium brown hair and glasses. She did not looked impressed to see Isaac.
“Sorry, Em…”
“Save your apologies for later. Right now, I need your help to get some cappuccinos brewing. Go in the back and get your apron on.”
Isaac mumbled his reply under his breath, though the ghost was interested in this new person, Emily.
“Hmm...She could be of some use to me. A little on the tall side, but some of her clothes could work…”
While the ghost plotted her next move, Isaac was adjusting to his new shoe sizes, almost forgetting his ill-fitting footwear as he worked.
It wasn’t until around noon when the ghost could feel some of her power returning, though not nearly enough to allow her to continue the possession. Thankfully, Isaac’s growling stomach provided an alternative.
“Hey Em, want to get some lunch now that our shifts are over?”
“Only if you’re treating.”
The phantom’s metaphorical mouth watered. She hadn’t tasted food in years and she could only imagine sinking her teeth into a juicy burger with fries.
“Maybe the food would give me an energy boost and we can move this along.”
As the two co-workers headed off to lunch, the ghost gathered up as much energy as she could and focused on something a little bigger.
She decided to change Isaac’s... indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
