D.Va sat in her firm yet ergonomic chair, leaning forward so that she could stare more intently at her monitor with her wide brown eyes. Blue spotlights shined on her wearing her signature skin-tight suit, beads of sweat forming under her black bangs. She honestly didn't even know why she had to play in the qualifying round: everyone else here was some lame nobody, at least compared to her, as evidenced by the banners of her leaning against her MEKA on either side of the stage, and the camera, broadcast to a fifty-foot high television screen, zoomed in on her face.
In the opening minutes of the free-for-all it became apparent she had nothing to worry about, and the light perspiration was mostly caused by the lights. So far no one had been able to land a single shot on her as she weaved effortlessly between their digital bullets, merely delaying her in killing them once again. One in particular seemed particularly bad, and ran at her in straight lines over and over again. Each time he respawned his movements got even more predictable, and before long she took pleasure in hunting him down, taking an easy kill to run up her score.
"stop no fair" popped up in the chat window after the twentieth or so time he added to D.Va's kill count. She laughed, and the crowd erupted into cheers. Her smile lasted until the next time she found him, this time running straight into a wall outside his spawn. Swiftly she offed him again, then typed out "lol ;)" before heading off to find another victim.
She found him several more times before the match ended, standing stock still and providing no challenge. D.Va gladly took the free point before adding a half dozen more to her score from other players, each of them starting to play worse by the end of the twenty minutes. Finally the match ended, and the other players sighed in relief. Quickly she typed out "GG nubs :)" before standing when the lights came up.
When she was fully standing, something seemed off to the petite Korean, but she couldn't put her finger on it. She vaguely remembered where her target had been sitting, and wanted to go rub his miserable defeat in his face. D.Va took a step to the left, expecting to have to squeeze past the huge German who had been next to her, but saw no sign of him. With another resolute step her foot bumped into something, followed by a soft thud. Annoyed she looked down, expecting to see that she had accidentally knocked over his inferior rig, but instead saw something much more interesting.
The man, who had previously been over a head taller than D.Va, was sprawled out on the floor, no taller than her knees! She looked around and noticed that the most she could see of anyone over their monitors was the tops of their head, and in many cases not even that much. Her neighbor yelled for her to stop, and she only offered "QQ more" before stepping over him and heading to her primary target.
Each gamer she passed was in a different pathetic state compared to her, most coming up to about her waist or mid-thigh. One, quite a few seats from where her quarry was, had to dodge the MEKA pilot's metal-encased foot as it slammed down, though she didn't even notice him at only a few inches. Another, about a foot tall, cowered under his desk as D.Va passed. She stopped to lean over, looking under the desk at him shaking. "Boo!" she shouted, making him jump, before standing up again to continue along her way.
Finally she reached her main target's chair, only to find it empty. There was no sign of its owner anywhere. "Where'd you go, noob? Did I own you so hard you shrank into nothing?" D.Va asked, smart enough to figure out what had happened. She leaned onto the desk, peering behind the keyboard and monitor but finding no sign of him. Already bored, she flicked the mouse with a gloved finger, but didn't find him hiding behind or under it.
For a moment she glanced at the screen, and saw that the timer until the next match, superimposed over the live broadcast of her face, was about to reach zero. D.Va leaned back over, inspecting the missing gamer's equipment. It wasn't nearly as good as hers, and she considered humiliating them even more by playing with this machine.
From the seat of the chair the unnoticed gamer watched D.Va, the absolutely titanic Korean making him realize just how insignificant he had become. At one quarter of an inch he had fallen into one of the seams of his chair and was having trouble getting back out. He watched her butt sway back and forth, cradled within her pink, skin-tight bodysuit while she looked over his station. With apprehension he saw the timer reach zero with her still at his seat, unknowingly casting him in the shadow of her spotlight.
