"Alright then, allow me to demonstrate." THe worker smiled. She picked up the watch, and dangled it before Fiona's eyes. "I want you to focus all your attention on the swirl. Don't let anything distract you, just watch it."
"Okay..." Fiona said, as the watch began to swing back and forth. She was skepitcal that this form of hypnosis could work. Still, she wanted to try it. Maybe having her thoughts "filled with sunshine and rainbows" would help her recover from her problems. It was worth a shot. The arc of the watch captivated her. It seemed to move constantly without much input from the worker. Slowly, she began to sway in time with it. THe swirl seemed to be spinning and glowing as it did, pulling her gaze in. She couldn't look away. She didn't want to look away. The swirls relfected in her eyes, a spiralling rainbow drilling into her soft, unresisting brain.
"Your eyelids are feeling a bit heavy... You feel weary, like you haven't slept in a long while." THe worker crooned, her voice tickling Fiona's ears. Immediately, her eyelids began to drop, her posture sagged, and she let out a yawn. "Yes, very sleepy... struggling to stay awake. You can't fight it much longer, you just want to give in and let sleep overwhelm you."
"Sleepy..." She moaned, yawning again.
"That right, darling. So very, very sleepy... Just let it come. Let your mind empty, and slip into a silent, comfortable slumber." She cooed, and with that, Fiona's mind went blank and her eyes slammed shut for a moment. Then they opened, now overflowing with rainbow swirls. Her body went rigid, and she stood stiffly, staring ahead with a faint smile on her face. "Good girl... Can your hear me?"
"Yes..."
"What's your name, darling?"
"Fiona..."
"Well, Fiona, why don't you tell me about yourself. What's your story?"
"I... lost my family in the war... I don't know if they're alive or dead... I was... imprisoned... left there.... I was a petty criminal for a while... then I joined the Freedom Fighters to redeem myself... But a man named Scourge... seduced me... led me astray, made me evil..."
"Oh dear, that sounds terrible." She hugged the vixen gently. "I'm glad you came to the circus, Fiona, because we can give you a new life filled with joy and laughter. I'm especially glad you came to me, because I can take you back. I can wash away all that pain. In a few moments, your memory will be a canvas on which I can paint a new, beautiful life. Doesn't that sound lovely?"
"Yes..." Fiona slurred, her mind not exactly comprehending what was about to happen.
