The acrid scent of sweat was quickly overpowered by the air rushing in. Chlorine, if your nose was correct. The chipped paint of an old locker surrounded you, but the door was mercifully open. A quick hop over the side of the shoe, and you were looking out into the world.
Yeah, it was the pool. The locker was situated near to the pool, and it was rather empty today. Only a small group of young girls were in it. Well, and the teenage lifeguard, who was sitting bored-like in the lifeguard tower. Seems like the place was rented out for the party.
Feeling was already beginning to return to the arm, so no major losses on the ride here. First priority was to find that apple. That was the key to survival here. It wasn't in the locker, so it had to be out in the greater pool area. Squinting, you could just make out a table with stuff on it over on the other side of the pool. It'd be quite a trek for someone of your stature, but it was the best place to look.
Vaulting down to the warm concrete, you start to walk towards your goal. Strictly speaking, the quickest route would be following the edge of the pool around to the tables. That would be dangerous though, as you'd pass right by the wild splashes of the party. It might be a smarter choice to go around the lifeguard tower. With less screeching pre-teens that way, you'd be much safer.
