It was a hot Thursday afternoon and school had just finished. The only students that were left in the school were James and Chloe. The two of them had been chosen to stay behind to clean up the drama room that had been left in a mess.
James and Chloe packed up the class in silence. The only sound that was being made was the movents of the objects. The two sixteen year olds smiled at each other and picked up the costumes.
"So what's been going on with you?" Chloe asked trying to make conversation.
"Not much," James said. "What about you?"
"Not much either," Chloe said as tried to pick up a box. "Cloud you please give me a hand."
"Sure." James smiled.
James walked over to the box and picked it up as if there was nothing in there. Chloe was surprised. To her the box felt like it had bricks in it. James threw it on the top shelf and carried on packing up a few of the costumes.
"You are strong." Chloe smiled.
"Thanks." James smiled.
"Do you work out?" Chloe asked.
"Yeah," James said sheepishly.
It was hard to tell if James had any muscle or not. Their school uniform was large and very bagy.
"Is this the first time we talked to each other?" Chloe asked.
"Yeah I think so," James said.
"Why is that?" Chloe sighed as she threw a dress on the floor. "We're in three classes together and we pretty much see each other everyday."
"I guess it's because your with your group of friends and I'm just the shy kid that everyone ignores and forgets." James sighed.
"I remember you," Chloe smiled. "And from what I remember from the small talk we had you were a nice guy. Do you have friends you talk to our are you the the stereotypical shy guy."
"I have friends." James laughed. "I'm just shy around people I don't really know."
"That's not a bad thing," Chloe said. "Trust me I can relate."
"I call bull shit on that." James laughed.
"Hey I can be very shy around new people." Chloe said.
"Every class I see you in you are talking to someone new." James laughed.
"Okay let me explain," Chloe smiled. "I find it hard to open up to people. I do talk a lot of people but I don't really tell them anything personal."
"So you haven't told anyone anything personal about you?" James asked.
"I have a few close friends I talk to about that but not anyone else." Chloe said.
"Not even your boyfriend?" James asked.
"I don't have a boyfriend." Chloe sighed.
"I'm sorry," James said. "I thought you had a boyfriend."
"Why did you think I had a boyfriend?" Chloe asked.
"Um...." James said sheepishly. "You're always out their talking to people and your really pretty."
"You think I'm pretty?" Chloe blushed curling her long blond hair with her fingers.
"Um, yeah," James blushed.
"Thanks James," Chloe smiled. "Could you help me with this box?"
"Sure." James said.
James walked over to the box and gripped the sides. James lifted the box and stumbled back.
"This is heavy." James said.
"It must be if you're struggling." Chloe said.
James smiled and threw the box on the shelf. As the box dropped on the shelf it landed on another box with some sort of spray in it. The pressure sprayed the liquid all over James and Chloe. Chloe tried to cover her face with her hamds. James grabbed the box and threw it off the shelf.
"You okay?" James asked.
"Yeah I'm fine." Chloe said wiping her face. "What is that stuff?"
"I have no idea." James said.
James opened the box to see what it was but to his surprise nothing was in there.
"What the fuck?" James said.
"What?" Chloe asked.
"Nothing is in here." James said.
"What?" Chloe said.
James pulled the box off the shelf and showed it to Chloe. Chloe was stunned.
"Then what sprayed us?" Chloe asked.
"I don't know." James said.
James threw the box behind him and searched the shelves. Chloe picked up one of the dresses and used it to clean herself.
"James." Chloe said.
"Yeah," James said.
"I'm feeling a bit......"
Chloe trailed off and passed out. James turned around and caught Chloe before she hit the ground.
"I got you." James said.
James lowered Chloe to the ground. James started to feel strange as well. His body started to shake and he fell to the ground next to Chloe. James passed out as well.
After a few minutes James woke up with a pounding headache. The first thing he saw was Chloe lying in the same spot as before. He sat up and rubbed his head. James looked around the room and realized something was wrong. Everything was huge compared to him. The spray somehow shrunk the two to the size of Barbie dolls.
"What the fuck?" James cried. "What the fuck?"
James turned around and grabbed Chloe's shoulder.
"Chloe wake up," James yelled. "Wake up."
"What?" Chloe said half asleep.
Chloe opened her eyes and saw James with a scared look on his face.
"What happened?" Chloe asked.
"Somehow that spry must have shrunk us." James said.
"What?" Chloe said.
James said nothing and looked around the room. Chloe sighed and looked around. Here heart sank as she realized what happened.
"What? What? What?" Chloe panicked.
"Chloe it's going to be okay." James said wrapping her arms around her.
Chloe placed her head on James's shoulder and began to cry.
"It's not going to be okay." Chloe sobbed. "We're dolls."
"I know," James said as tears rolled down her cheeks. "But we can find someone who can help us."
There was a knock on the door.
"Anyone in there?" They called.
Chloe looked at James with a horrified look. Chloe wrapped her arms around James and squeezed as tight as she could.
