Before you had even decided what to do with yourself, the doorbell rang unexpectedly. Opening the door, your surprise intensified and your heart skipped a beat at who was standing there. Chloe!
"Hey Owen! What you up to?" Chloe was looking gorgeous as usual. There seemed to be a slight flicker of excitement in her eyes; of course, this may just have been wishful thinking on your part...
"Uh, hey!" You had been caught off guard as the words seemed to stick in your mouth a little. "Um nothing! Nothing at all! Er...do you wanna come in?" You wished you had been all cool and suave, however being in Chloe's presence, especially when she had turned up out of the blue, had softened your insides somewhat.
"Sure,' she smiled, walking past you, her light brown hair almost swishing into your face. Automatically, you breathed in her scent: fruity, sweet, slightly intoxicating! Your legs feeling a lot like jelly, you followed her in.
Chloe walked straight through to your living room, sitting down elegantly on your couch. A little awkwardly, you moved to sit beside her.
"Er...so...nice weather, huh?" You felt almost infuriated with yourself at such a feeble attempt at conversation.
She smiled at you politely. Not giving you any more than this, you started to feel a little panicked at the thought that you could be ruining what could be the perfect chance to prove that you were a decent, fun guy. Not a schmuck who talks about the weather! In the corner of your eye, you noticed her skipping her shoes off, revealing her purple-socked feet. You gulped a little and tried your best to ignore them. The last thing you wanted was Chloe discovering your foot fetish!
"So...what brings you here?" It's the only thing you could think of as you felt your heart beat ever rapidly, almost through your chest.
She frowned at you. "What's wrong? Don't you want me here, Owen?" Her lips pouted as you felt a fresh wave of alarm spread through you.
"No, no!" You babbled. "I didn't mean-"
"I'm kidding, Owen," she smiled gently at you, a playful expression on her face. Relief finally set in and actually made you feel a little more at ease!
"So...what d'you wanna do?" You said as causally as possible, hoping that Chloe hadn't read too much into your babbling just now.
