The discussion was going nowhere, and with time being a precious commodity in this game you chose to make an executive decision. Smacking your hands down on the kitchen table hard enough to silence all conversation and produce a small and girlish "Eeep!" from the living room, where so far as you were aware was occupied exclusively by Will.
"Listen, girls, I love you all, but I'm not going to sit by and let an innocent woman get snatched up by some tree dwelling psycho. Whoever Gwen is, she needs our help. Will's no hillbilly accomplice, we can trust him. I trust him. So, you three just hold down the fort while Will and I find Gwen." You said, turning away before any of your friends had a chance to argue and returning to the living room. Will springs up from the couch, smiling sheepishly. This cabin's walls were thin, he'd heard everything, but for the sake of drama you told him "Come on Will, let's go get your girl!"
"Oh, thank God! Thank you so much... uh, I don't think I got your name before." Will asked, offering a limp wristed hand to you.
"Jane Loire." You said, grabbing his hand and nearly crushing it in your mighty mitt. "Now come on, we've got some work to do!"
Running off into the woods while your friends shouted a mix of cheers and demands to return in one piece, loudly enough for any lurking headhunters to easily hear, may have been the worst idea ever. But, this whole camp was based off slasher movie clichés, and one of the most crucial clichés for any good slasher is to have characters make the absolute worst decisions possible. "So, Will which way?"
"Uh, I think... no, yeah, it's that way!" He said, pointing to the path of broken sticks, crushed leaves, and muddy footprints that he had left leading into the tree line. It was such an obvious path that it would be all but impossible for even a total outdoors amateur like yourself to track, let alone the Headhunter. If he was following Will, he'd certainly know where to find him and by extension the rest of you.
"Alright, stick behind me. I'll lead the way." You said, continuing the pattern of dumbass decisions that would surely lead to your defeat. Or, maybe this was one of those post-postmodern slashers that subverted audience expectations by having the strong, independent black woman be the sole survivor rather than the first victim. Only one way to find out.
Following Will's previous path for about half an hour, the two of you eventually come to a clearing with a broken down jeep with slashed tires had been tipped onto its side. A bit overkill, you thought.
"This is where he attacked us. The tires blew up on some kind of boobytrap, the piece of shit battery died, then I swear this dude just up and flipped our car with his bare hands!" Will said, peering around your side as he cowered behind you.
Well, either Will was lying for added drama, or else the Headhunter was on magic steroids. Maybe staying back at the Cabin wasn't such a bad idea after all. "Let's search for clues. Try and figure out where he took her." You said, approaching the jeep cautiously.
