Chapter #5

The magician comes back

    by: Unknown
A very long, very boring 2 hours passed. "She could've at least turned on the TV." You said, for about the tenth time. You'd never noticed just how boring your apartment was, when you had no TV or games to distract you. The window was uselessly high and small, giving you a great view of the equally tall apartment directly across from yours. You had no posters on the wall, no interesting knickknacks, and your cat Leslie was as lazy, stubborn, and passive aggressive as they come, responding to your whistles and calls to come in here and give you something to look at with only dramatic yawns and fake snoring. Yes, you could tell when your cat was really asleep and was faking it. He did it a lot. If nothing else, this experience gave you useful notes on redecorating your living room. You needed shit to look at.

Almost two hours to the second later, you heard your front door open. "Sorry to barge in here, I'm missing an earing and I'm retracing my steps.." Came a familiar voice, completely nonchalant about handicapping you the rest of the week.

You heard Isabella rummaging around the room, you decided that now was as good a time as any to make further pleas to get her to change you back. "I can't go to your show, you never told me where it is! You have to change me back."

"Main Street Event Center. Stage 2. It's on the corner of Main and 12th. 7:00pm to 10:00pm every Friday." She said, peeking under your sofa.

"I have a terrible memory." You lied.

"I'll leave a card." She said, casually tossing a laminated business card over her shoulder with all relevant information on it. The card spun like a throwing star and embedded itself a quarter of an inch into the table you were resting on, inches from your nose. Either she used magic on the card, or was a trick card thrower on the side.

"I don't have anyone to take me!" You said.

"Cry for help until a neighbor comes over. AFTER, I leave. Start screaming now and I'm taking your lips, too." Isabella said, sounding a little frustrated as she upended the couch cushions . You don't recall her ever sitting down, but that was hardly your most pressing concern.

"I have a cat!" You said.

That stopped Isabella in her tracks. She walked out in front of you and bent down, her expression so dumbfounded that you almost didn't notice her bra-less breasts stretching out her tight t-shirt as she bent over. "And that's relevant... how?" She asked.

"I won't be able to feed him as just a head! He'll starve if you leave me like this!" You say, hoping that this heartless witch at least had a soft spot for animals.

She frowned, looking off to one side. "Where is he? What's his name?" She asked, a slight twinge of guilt hanging off her words.

"In my room, down the hall and to the right. Probably on my bed though he's not supposed to be up there, so if he isn't check his cat bed beside the dresser. His name's Leslie." You explained, a bit too thoroughly.

Standing up straight, Isabella went back to your room and walked in, thankfully ignoring the room directly across from yours. The room of your roommate, Kyle, who could very easily take care of your low maintenance cat for you. "Hey little Leslie, how-OW!" Isabella yelped, your view blocked but the noise unmistakable.

"Did you just try to pick him up? Because Leslie hates that." You call out.

"You could've mention that!" Isabella hissed.

"How was I supposed to know you'd try to pick him up? Who picks up a cat they just met?... wait, why were you trying to pick him up?" You asked.

"Because I was going to take him with me! Care for him until Friday. I got a cat of my own so I have the food and everything." Isabella explained.

"WHAT?! First you steal my body and now you're trying to catnap Leslie? What is your problem?" You demand.

"Do you want him to starve? I'm doing you a favor! I'll give him right back after the show!" Isabella shot back, ignoring the obvious fault in her own logic.

It was at this moment that the aforementioned roommate, Kyle, walked through the door that Isabella had left open. While Leslie liked you well enough in his own way, Kyle was the one who fed him in the evening, and so Kyle was the only person in the world he cared about after you fed him breakfast. Leslie bolted from your room and sprinted to greet Kyle at the door, meowing furiously as he rubbed himself against your roommate's heels. "Hey Leslie, how-"

He saw your head on the table. Then he saw the very confused Isabella walk out of your room. Then, he heard you say "Kyle, taser, now!"

You don't know why Kyle carried a taser with him at all times, though the fact that he'd told you not to ask suggested that an unhappy memory was associated with the decision. Still, if there was ever a time you were happy to know that your roommate was always packing 60,000 volts, now was that time. If he could subdue Isabella and call the cops, you could get your body back along with whatever financial compensation the emotional damages could get you. He had a clear shot, and she was justwithin the 15 foot range of the weapon. Now it all came down to how Kyle reacted to this bizarre situation.
