Chapter #8

Standing in the Upstairs Hallway

    by: Unknown
Mike finally found the hallway light switch and clicked it on. His eyes widened and he said, "What's with this makeup, and... oh, my God, what happened to your bodies?"

"I don't know!" exclaimed Linda. "I just woke up with these!" She waved toward the large breasts that threatened to spill out over the top of her red nightie.

"Me too!" said Ming. "Then I ran in the bathroom and the stuff I wore to bed changed into this, and this makeup appeared!"

Mike didn't say anything, just pinched himself. "Ow!"

"This is serious!" exclaimed his altered wife.

At that moment, Linda's brother Lee emerged from his bedroom. "What's going on?" he asked sleepily. "It's not time to get up yet."

"Oh, honey --" Ming said, moving toward him, the high heels she was wearing tapping on the hallway floor.

Lee's eyes widened just as Mike's had, his cheeks flushed, and he ducked back into his room and slammed the door behind him.

Ming knocked on the door. "Lee? What's wrong, honey? It's still me -- your mother -- and your sister. We just changed... somehow."

There was no response. Mike looked at the sexpots standing in the hallway with him and said, "He's probably just embarrassed. When I was his age, if I suddenly came face to face with -- with someone who looked like either one of you, I think I would have been very confused." He tapped on the door. "Lee, it's okay. Just -- whenever you're ready, you can --"

The door opened, and Lee poked his head out. "The Internet's not working," he reported.

"It's not?" Mike frowned and followed Lee into his room after indicating with a hand signal that the ladies should wait.

Lee sat down at the computer on his desk and said, "If they just changed like Mom said, I wanted to see if something bigger was going on. But no sites are loading." He demonstrated that Facebook.com and Google.com were both giving "site not responding" errors in the browser.

"Could be our connection," Mike suggested. He went back into the hallway. "Anyone got their phone handy? Turn off wi-fi and see if you can load anything."

Linda ducked back into her room and returned with her iPhone, tapping as best she could with her extended, manicured fingernail until she said, "No, nothing's loading."

Lee appeared in the hallway and said, "Maybe the Internet is just busy. If this has happened to everyone --"

"I'm text-messaging some of my friends," said Linda.

"Oh, of course, we could turn on the radio," suggested Ming. She turned to go back into her bedroom -- just as Alkazar put another change into effect based on Eric's subconscious fantasies.
