What sort of experiment?" you asked nervously, none to eager to volunteer after hearing about the succession of terrible things you're step mom's subjected you to already.
"Oh, nothing too bad. In fact, as long as nothing goes wrong you'll probably enjoy it!" your mother replies.
Not being particularly reassured by the if nothing goes wrong part, you can't help but give your step mother a skeptical look.
Noticing your expression, Cynthia says "Hey! Don't look at me like that! I was serious when I said all the bad stuff was over with. This device I want you top test should be perfectly safe, I'm only asking for you to be the first one to try it out because I feel like I owe you a favor for all the other horrible stuff I was forced to put you through."
"Plus the fact that I'm pretty much indestructible makes me the perfect guinea pig am I right?" you added.
"Well... that is part of it, but that's really just a bonus." Cynthia replies, adding "Look, how about I tell you a little more about the project and then you can decide whether you're willing to help me or not, deal?"
You considered it. Knowing what you were getting yourself into, at least to some degree, was a lot better than jumping in head first without knowing the situation, and you could always back out if you decided Cynthia was asking too much of you. "Okay, I accept. Tell me about the project." you agreed.
"You're actually thinking about it?!" Cynthia said, seemingly surprised by your willingness to help. Maybe you'd made the wrong choice?
Either ignoring your renewed nervousness or else choosing to ignore it, Cynthia continues. "There are several actually. The one I was thinking you might be interested in involves___________________?
(A). "My new mind swap machine. You could see what it would be like to be another person, or maybe even an animal!"
(B). "The new portal devices I've just invented. They were originally designed for transport by allowing items to pass between pairs of portals or placed into a pocket dimension for easy storage, but I'm sure if you experiment with them a little, I'm sure you can find a more interesting use for them if you know what I mean."
(C). "My new mass transference device. Basically what it does is move mass around from one object to another, making them lighter or denser, bigger or smaller, or both. You can also just change the size and/or mass of a part of an object if you wanted to. Actually, the only real limitation it has is that mass has to remain constant, meaning that if something else gets bigger or denser, something else has to get smaller or lighter. I haven't tried it on humans yet of course, but if works on you the way it should I'll let you have it for field testing."
