As the bus shrieked to a sudden stop, both women grabbed the metal bar in front of them. Josie's Latvia friend started yelling in her native tongue, and Josie was pretty sure it was every swear word known to mankind.
The bus driver stood up and shook his fist. He missed hitting a small Austin mini.
"No ... no ... no!"
Josie looked at her new friend. "What's the matter ... by the way, what's your name?"
"My name is Krista, and those men in that car are after me."
"Why?"
"Business from Latvia. I have someting they want."
"We've got to get out of here. Let's get to the pub ... you are part of the Holiday Club, right?"
"Yes. I must get there."
Two men exited the car and headed to the main double doors of the bus. Josie and Krista made their way to the back doors and waited for them to open. As the bus driver talked with the two men, they ran down to Palmeston Road and into the The Slug and Lettuce.
Both out of breath, Krista grabbed Josie's arm hard. "You have to help me hide, and I have to hide this too. Those men want it."
Josie's eyes opened wide. Krista held out the most beautiful thing she ever saw and it took her breath away again.
