A young woman embarks on some exciting holiday adventures.....
This choice: Suddenly, a young man appears by her side, looking at the advert  •  Go Back...
Suddenly, Josie became aware of somebody standing close by her. She glanced sideways and saw it was a man - about her age - looking at the same poster. Instinctively she moved aside a little in order for him to be able to get a better look. He looked at her and smiled, then gestured to the poster.

"Looks interesting," He said. "I've always wanted to travel a bit more."

"Me too," replied Josie, surprising herself with the statement. Yet once the words were out they seemed to be true. The man gestured again to the poster and then looked at his watch.

"That's today," He pointed out. "I guess it's now or never then. What do you think?" He smiled slyly. Josie stared at him, slightly taken aback at his confidence and his forward manner. She was not accustomed to striking up conversations at random with men in the library - or anywhere else for that matter. Nevertheless there was something appealing about him. He was dressed slightly oddly in jeans and a vintage jacket which might have looked ridiculous on some guys but he seemed to carry it off. He wore glasses with black plastic frames and his brown hair was slightly tousled as if he had tried to create the look with hair wax but a little unsuccessfully.

"Well, I'm not doing much else," Josie said by way of a commitment.

"I'm Peter, by the way," He said. "I've just moved down here actually - thought I would try and find out what's going on in the area - the library is always a good place to start."

"Oh!" She exclaimed. "I thought your accent sounded unfamiliar. Where are you from?"

"Newcastle."

"Gosh - you've come a long way down South! How are you finding it in Portsmouth?"

"Warmer....." He laughed and then she did too. Without thinking about it, she realised that she had wandered back out in to the late afternoon sunshine with him. The two of them now stood, bookless outside the building. Peter turned to her.

"So, what should I call you?" He asked.

"Josie." She shook her head apologetically and smiled. "My name is Josie."
