You were not sure if you heard your brother right. 'Magic is real...' you repeated in your mind. Part of you knew that to be the case; otherwise how could you explain how a seemingly normal longsword make this all happen. The second part your brother mentioned, about being the inheritors of Gemini stood out though. Gemini was an astrological sign and a constellation, nothing more. People often did associate mysterious happenings based on the horoscopes, but what did a constellation have to do with this. As you glanced at the body that you shared with Jason though, you knew Gemini meant something. As you recalled, that happened to be sign you and Jason were born under as your birthday was June 21st.
A string of memories began to flow through your mind, like someone had turned the handle of a faucet. The events of the previous day poured over your mind...
It began in a dream. You and Jason were soaring high over your small town, enjoying the freedom of flying. The early morning air did not seem to bother you despite wearing nothing but your boxer briefs. Your brother, wearing a matching pair, did not seem at all bothered, by what should have been chilly morning breeze, either. With child-like joy, you and Jason twirled around each other. Coming to a halt, hundreds of yards above the town, you both grasped each other's hands and turned to face the rising son.
"Decedents of Castor and Pollux, the first Gemini..." two voices, speaking in tandem, seemed to boom all around. "Your family's generational curse has been undone with the Sword of Power, allowing twins to once again be born in your family line. But now, Jason and John, you have a choice."
There was a long pause, and you sensed the gravity of this decision. Without words being spoken, you knew, almost intuitively, what the voices were about to ask. It would be a great power bestowed upon you both... a great power you would share completely. In body and spirit, you and Jason would truly be inseparable. You glanced at your brother, who wore the same expression of uncertainty. "If we accept... We'll literally be inseparable, attached at the hip."
"More than just attached at the hip..." Jason answered. "Two half bodies joined down the middle. What is that called... Conjoined twins. But... its not like we had great aspirations without each other. We'll just be..."
"Stuck together permanently... Having all the power of Gemini sounds incredible; it just has that caveat. If you accept, so will I?"
"Leaving the decision up to me, typical..."
"No! I just want to make sure you're cool with it. There is no going back once we agree."
"I know that, but it also does help us with our... relationship problem. Like hitting a... two-headed bird with one stone. Lizzie won't have to choose between us... And, being with you 24/7 doesn't sound so bad."
"Well, that is defiantly a nice plus... both of us being with Lizzie that is. Sharing a body with you would be... okay. I would definitely be able to keep you out of trouble that way."
The voices spoke again. "Do you accept the power and the responsibility of one of the 12 Zodiacs? Do you willing choose to bear the torch and be the inheritors of Gemini?"
Speaking together, You and Jason answered confidently, "We do."
The dream faded as a bright light seemed to engulf you both. You awoke instantly and sat up. You breathed heavily, and at the same time as someone else. You turned your head towards the right to your brother's sweaty face, a mirror image to your own, a few inches away. You reach out your left hand and touch the fingertips of his right hand. It was real, you realized. The dream was real.
Your gazes shifted forward, confirming what you already knew. Lying on the ground, between your beds, was a single body. Despite knowing what you had agreed to in the dream, it was something completely different to experience. You and Jason were now inseparable. Like a flight instinct, you tried to pull away but your brother was dragged with you. "Did we just agree to be..."
"Conjoined twins... Yeah, apparently..." Jason answered
Directly after this, you and Jason struggled to stand. Your original bodies almost seemed to have been cut in half and sewn together, leaving you both control and sensation of your respective halves. That meant simple tasks like standing or walking was a joint effort. Something you and he were not prepared for. Neither were you prepared to have the conversation with your parents when your mother came in to check on you. At the time, you were rolling on the floor arguing with each other.
Surprising you both, your parents had some knowledge of your father's family history. His family was the direct descendants of Castor and Pollux, just as the voices had explained. Long ago, a curse had caused twins to longer be born within the family line, ensuring that another generation of Gemini inheritors would never come to be. You and Jason were the first twins in a century. But, your parents never expected that you would become inheritors, so they had not seen the need to explain that part of your paternal family history.
As it turned out, all 12 of the ancient zodiacs had individuals that inherited great power, and you and Jason knew two of them. Lizzie was the inheritor of Libra, and the specialist they had visited was the inheritor of Virgo.
The memories faded from your mind's eye, and you found yourself back in the present. Yours and Jason's back resting against the wall.
"Yeah..." you answered your twin's comment about not being prepared. "That dream... did warn us about this choice, but believing and seeing are two different things."
"If you could, would you go back and not accept being inheritors... I know you have a lot to adjust to, more than I did when I came of age, but still... Would you rather not know?" Lizzie asked, suddenly serious.
"That is a loaded question if I ever heard one..." You answered.
"Yeah" Jason agreed. After a long pause, he continued, "Its not like we regret our decision exactly. Its just a lot that we have to take in and adjust to. Its only been a day."
"Jason and I did give up being complete individuals so we could become inheritors. We knew what that meant, but also... we didn't know what that all entailed. Everything is a new experience for us now." You said, deciding not to go into all of the details. Just her casual, supportive touch was a new experience that you and Jason shared. "So... I guess the short answer is No. We really would rather know, but this... is a lot of newness for us to adjust to. And to be honest, we definitely are getting on each other's nerves more easily."
"The understatement of the year..." Jason added.
Lizzie then leaned forward and gave each of you a kiss, first you and then Jason. The edges of her lips rose into a smile. "To be honest, I like you two much better this way..." She delicately placed a hand on the middle of your chest and slowly dragged her fingertips lower. As was probably part of her plan, you and Jason both took in a quick breath of air. Blood began to flow into your groin, extending your shared penis. "I can get you both excited at the same time."
After sometime of shared love making, you and Jason were cleaning up in the shower. The water cascaded down your back.
