The civilian population of Konoha hated Naruto. They despised him as the demon brat. Those who ran the orphanage rarely ensured he had a proper meal and were quick to punish him for the littlest things, even if he had nothing to do with the event. Eventually Naruto was removed from the orphanage and given his own apartment, though it was clearly rundown and looked ready to collapse at any moment on top of him. Naruto's life was a sad and lonely one. While the Hokage made sure he was given a size able monthly stipend almost no one seemed willing to actually sell food to him. Or clothes for that matter. This left the boy both starved and covered in nothing but, rags. Things might have been a bit more bearable for him if he simply had a friend. Sadly, no one would play with him or even talk with him unless it was insults and name calling. When he tried to play with other kids anyway parents would hastily intervene and take their children away warning them that Naruto was bad and to stay away from him. That is, if they didn't chase him away cursing and screaming at him first.
It was all very depressing for Naruto but, as much as he had suffered things were about to get far worse.
------
In a darkened alleyway not to far ahead of the unknowing blond four year old where two shadowed figures. A special time was coming for a certain member of the Village Hidden in the Leaves. As most might assume an event that only happened once a year was to take place at that time and these two had figured it would be a good time to do something about Konoha's residential jinchūriki.
"Are you sure she'll approve of this?" The slightly taller shadow asked its companion. It's voice, though a whisper, still carried the clear sounds of a male. "Of course I am." Answered the shorter and far more shapely one, a clear feminine tone in its voice. "The young lady may not approve immediately but, with time she will grow to accept and enjoy her 'gift'." She assured. The male figure said nothing but, did make motions signaling to get ready.
Soon their target passed by the alleys opening. Seemingly without a care in the world to any who didn't possess the analytical abilities of their clan. They could clearly see that the wide grin on their targets face and the cheeriness it gave off was forced; a mask to hide its pain and suffering if there ever was one. Neither one gave a damn about their targets feelings or the suffering it went through. Soon they would have revenge against the monster in the most ironic of ways.
With that the figures struck, knocking the boy out with the mere tap of a finger and a touch of chakra. Shoving the limp boy into a sack the two quickly moved towards the previously prepared area that they had made ready. If any had managed to catch a glimpse of the two shadows, they would have seen nothing but, a flash of white cloth or the blurred shape of a red teardrop flame as they moved.
