I'm not her!

         “Now, run along and get on the bus with the rest of the girls and I'll be along shortly to drive us all back to St. Mary's”, the woman told Jessica, before turning her back on her and reentering the building to sign off on their school day visit.
         “Yes, mum” Jessica mumbled obediently as she scurried off to catch up with the other school girls getting on to the bus. Jess didn’t dare look back for a minute, terrified she’d see that cruel woman glaring at her for not hurrying along faster or something.
         Finally almost to the bus, her heart pounding in her chest at the thought of this whole fiasco going any farther, Jessica glances back, sees that the chaperone still hasn’t emerged from inside the public pools facility yet...and takes off as fast as she can!
         Jessica frantically sprints around the school bus and towards the edge of the parking lot, away from the view of the scary lady. Even now she was scampering away, she was so afraid she’d hear that much larger woman behind her, yelling at her to COME BACK THIS INSTANT!” like some daylight nightmare she can’t run from.
         Still running as fast as her little legs would take her away from the public pools parking lot, Jessica allows herself a smile as she still doesn’t hear the alarm being sounded for her by the abusive matron.
         She is well out of sight of the school bus now, and can’t tell whether it has started up yet or not. All Jess knows is she has several blocks to go to get back to her new home safely, in the middle of a school day, alone and dressed and looking exactly like one of the young students from St. Mary’s School for Girls.
         She also knows she is shit with directions, and thinks this is actually the opposite side of the block she’d like to be on to retrace her steps back to her new home. Jess also knows she can’t just walk around on the major streets looking like this. From what she’s heard, the town has a cruel reputation for public displays of corrections on girls who try to play hooky from school. So Jess is desperate to get home and get changed into one of her professional reporter outfits, and retrieve her things from the public pool locker.
         Heart still going a mile-a-minute, Jessica keeps looking over her shoulder, looking just like a naughty girl up to no good, as she tries to sneak…
