"Your luck is already shifting, Lizzy," Lilith said and flips over a pair of Aces.
"Well, if someone does hit a huge losing streak, we should probably keep the forfeit from being too harsh," Zoey commented. She had already shown a pair of 10s and was now starting to doodle on a scrap of paper she had kept in her hoody.
"Well, unless they want to," Lilith added and ran her fingers through her red hair.
"So, do neither Lara and him lose, or do both of them," Sam asked and scratches her head.
Elizabeth briefly giggles at Sam's ignorance of the game and then covers her mouth. "Sorry, but the gentleman wins."
You realize Elizabeth already saw that while you and the adventuress both had a pair of 7s, you had her edged out with a King kicker to her Queen kicker.
Lara snorts as she unties her boots and Sam follows suit. "In my experience, a king will often lose to a queen."
You nod and silently thank the poker gods for the close win. The cards are dealt as the two young ladies put their boots under the table.
