He sees there's a version he can put on his phone and has a fantastic idea. He'll take it with him and to dinner and play around with Trish, trying to make her happier. To get the most enjoyment out of it though, he wants her to decide what happens. In order for that to happen, she'll have to believe in the device and not be freaked out. Before heading out for the day, he takes a quick look through her personality traits and raises one - her trust of him. She'll be much more inclined to give him the benefit of the doubt. He hits Save, and Sync, and heads out the door.
When he gets to the bar, he gets a table and texts Trish. She arrives a few minutes later. She didn't change after work, so she's still wearing a white button down, an above-the-knee pencil skirt, and a pair of 5" red platform heels. Alex isn't positive, but he's pretty sure she's undone one of her shirt buttons.
The waitress, a rather bubbly blonde, comes by and introduces herself. "Hi, I'm Heather, I'll be your waitress tonight. Can I start you with something to drink?" They both order a bourbon and Heather heads off.
"She's cute, " Trish says, with perhaps a hint of jealousy.
"She is cute, but that's neither here nor there. Why don't you tell me about your day?" Trish looks skeptical. "Well... just think of me like a surrogate boyfriend and tell me about it."
Trish sighs, and starts talking about her day. She went to her boss to apply for a promotion, and they told her that it was most likely going to Staci. She talks about some of her stupid clients (everyone has them!), and recounts the team meeting. By the time she's done with the story, she looks lighter. Like a load has been lifted.
"Actually, Alex, thanks. That felt real nice. I still don't see how there will be a good way out, but I at least feel better about it."
"You're welcome." He flags Heather down, and orders another round of drinks and some food to share.
"Actually, " Alex says, "One of the reasons I wanted you to join me for dinner tonight was because I think I have a solution... or at least a path.. to resolve your issues."
"Oh? What's that? You've got a way to make Staci seem like not the office star?"
"Something like that." Alex replies. "But in order for this to work, you'll have to trust me. Do you? Do you trust that what I'm about to tell you is possible?"
"Uh... sure... I trust you. You've always been honest in the past. What do you have in mind?"
"What if I told you I had a way to change reality?"
"Well, I'd say it's unlikely, but .. I said I'd trust you. I can trust you and still ask for proof, right?"
"Of course, and I'd be worried if you didn't. You said it looked like I got a new haircut today, right? Well, that's not exactly true. I ... redefined myself." He lifts up his shirt, showing off his exceptionally well defined abs. "I didn't have these before today." Trish mostly just looks a little flush at seeing his abs.
"Well, you do seem a bit more in shape, but you could have just gone to the gym and hid it. I don't mean to be negative about it, but it is a little far fetched."
Alex is just happy she hasn't gone running off, thinking he's crazy. "I understand. How about this, then. I'll change something on you, your choice, and then you'll have to believe me right? So what do you want to change? Make it easy to see so there's no doubt it worked."
"Well, let's see. I'd like..." | Members who added to this interactive story also contributed to these: |
