Was the sun always green?

For the first few days non of the reports could explain what happened down there. The climate hadn't changed that much. There were no major disease outbreaks. No new species had appeared and the populations of the surviving ones were about what would be expected. Clutching at straw they started to look at all the ancient records they could to look for some forgotten event that didn't seem important then but would have messed things up now.

They were looking at some old art when Trug noticed something "Why is the sun yellow in the is picture, that's not right."

Up in the sky the sun glowed green.

Cragic then looked at other art from the same period. Every single day time picture had the sun being yellow. It was red in the evening. Even childrens books had the sun as yellow. This clearly wasn't some random fad, the sun used to be yellow.

Next Cragic gather a timeline of sun pictures from the most realistic artists, actual photos came in at the end. The pattern was clear the sun was steadily get more and more green. This had happened over a couple of millenia so very people noticed.

Spectral analysis showed that now most of the suns light was green. This was the same colour as the all the leaves etc. on plants. Plants were bouncing pack most of the light they needed to make the sugars. These sugars were the basis of every food chain on the planet. Even the darkest places were powered by plants indirectly. But then suddenly the rules changes and evolvotion wasn't fast enough to keep up.

"Are you running out of food up there, wouldn't want any of you to go hungry too," asked Trug concerned.

Another spider guardian revealed that food production had been dramatically stepped up after popular demand the forced the government to buy food in bulk to feed the humans down below. There were now ten's of millions of humans being supported and protected by thousands of ever growing spider guardians. Every single one of them was giving Cragic evermore size and power. The base of theire food chain was chemosynthetic bacteria using various compounded only food in the upper atomosphere. Ulimately solar powered too but the green sun just gave the system more energy.

Cragic knew this wouldn't last for ever. Even now some of the some conservation fractions were complaining of the cost in the fringes of debate, they would get louder when tax day came.

He pondered what to do whilst looking down from his height of
