This choice: Went to explain to the clerk! • Go Back...Chapter #7Went to explain to the clerk! by: Phantom Pen "You're back! Ready to finish the transaction?" the clerk said happily.
"Uh... about that." Minako said, putting on her best smile despite the situation. "I went to get my purse, and, well... it's gone!"
Minako had hoped the clerk's reaction to this news would be shock. Instead, the look on the girl's face was one of slight irritation, one eyebrow raised in curiosity.
"So you're saying you have no way to pay for that dress?"
Minako couldn't believe what she was hearing! She'd just had her things stolen, and this girl was only concerned about how she was supposed to pay for the dress?! "I... I don't think you understand. All my stuff is gone! It was stolen from one of your changing rooms, on your property!"
The clerk didn't even bother responding verbally, instead pointing over Minako's shoulder. The blonde girl looked over her shoulder to where the clerk was pointing, seeing a sign she hadn't noticed before, hanging over the entrance to the changing rooms.
Please don't leave your things unattended!
We cannot be held responsible for valuables lost or stolen from changing stalls.
"You... you can't be serious!" Minako cried, turning around to face the clerk again. "Someone steals my stuff, and you're telling me there's nothing you can do?!"
"That's right, ma'm." the clerk said, unfazed by Minako's outburst. "We legally can't be held responsible for our customers being careless. Now, if you can't pay for the dress, I'm going to have to ask you to return it right now."
This was bad. Minako certainly couldn't just hand over the dress. Aside from her panties, it was the only thing she had on! Surely there had to be some kind of compromise she could make, right? This clerk couldn't be completely heartless as to force Minako into such an embarrassing state. But what if she was? That potential risk made the entrance door, a short distance away from where Minako was already standing, that much more inviting. Yeah, she'd be essentially stealing, but surely this was a forgivable situation? Then again, explaining that might not be the easiest thing if she got caught...
Minako knew that she was stuck between a rock and a hard place. So, she made her decision and- indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
