It had been early in the afternoon when Ami arrived at the Juuban District Library. A peaceful day of studying had been her intention, but had she known the eventual aftermath, she would've just stayed at home.
It was too late by that time, however. Ami had selected a rather wordy, and somewhat dusty, textbook from a bookshelf near the back. The unpopular area often carried history books, foreign texts, and every so often, works of an occult nature derided as the creations of delusional minds.
For some reason, Ami found those the most interesting... and so it had been once such book that Ami settled into an isolated desk with, adjusting her lenses as she perused the text.
The contents were mostly in Japanese, or at least indented with it. Much of the text was still beyond Ami's comprehension. She understood enough Latin to voice the words aloud, but not at all to comprehend their meaning.
As if to practice, Ami slowly began to whisper the phrase aloud. She thought a cold breeze picked up, but maybe she imagined it.
Ami wondered if this wasn't a sign of sorts... whether it was a sign to continue or stop, was the question.
The uniform-clad girl gave the quiet library a thoughtful look around, then with her decision made, Ami looked down to the book and...
