You pondered for a few moments, thinking about anyone nearby that you'd be able to show. It was a shame that the distance you could send the temporary portal was limited, otherwise you'd surprise one of your professors.
It was then that you remembered a boy that you used to babysit when you were in highschool. His name was Cody. You quickly did the math in your head to figure out how old he had to be now. Probably around early middle school.
You thought to yourself what a great a surprise it would be if you were to suddenly create a full-sized secondary portal over his head while he was playing basketball in his driveway. You imagined the shock on his face when he would see you waving to him from a random hole in space.
The more you thought about it, the more exciting the idea became.
You quickly left your lab and ran to a window in the front of your house.
To your great disappointment, Cody was walking into his house with a basketball under his arm. YOU JUST MISSED HIM
"Awwh maaaaan! Really?" You whined.
You were really looking forward to it too. You combed your fingers through your hair and sighed.
"......No." You suddenly spoke with a determined tone.
You were going to do this, one way or another. You were not going to give up on this surprise.
You didn't know when he would leave his house again, and you didn't intend to stare out your window until he did.
"maybe.... oh!" A thought hit you.
You ran back down to your lab. As soon as you walked through the door, you saw the secondary portal, still floating there from earlier.
"If I keep it this size, I'll be able to teleport it in his house!"
