Chapter #6A... is that a gun?! by: Unknown You couldn't believe it. Behind a thin pane of easily breakable glass was a loaded handgun, a rather old one by the looks of it but still a gun nonetheless. It was a revolver of some description, highly polished nickel plating around a barrel just over seven inches leading into a six chambered cylinder mounted onto what looked like an ivory handle. The bizarre nature of seeing something this dangerous protected so haphazardly was really-
"Major Galloway's ghost gun. Why am I not surprised that a teenager would be attracted to the gun?" You nearly leap straight out of your skin as a voice begins speaking behind you. You turn to see a man who looked to be older than the sun dressed like he was an extra from Harry Potter, Towering over you at six and a half feet and with a spindly wire thin frame he seemed right at home in such a strange place.
"What... huh?" You respond.
"The item in the case. It's the gun of the American Major Galloway, one of the most recent items in my shop. I see you've taken an interest in it." He replied, opening up the case and picking up the weapon.
"I'm more interested in the lack of firearm safety. You just left that thing out in the open for anyone to take. Someone could seriously get hurt!" You respond.
The old man laughs, casually spinning the weapon around on his finger by the trigger guard. "Hurt? By this? You make me laugh. This little toy couldn't harm a fly! Well, not on its own at least." He cryptically responded.
"How do you figure?" You inquire, taking a cautious step back from the seemingly senile old man twirling a pistol laughing like a loon.
"Major Galloway had this gun blessed by native shaman on his journeys west, in exchange for sparring there land from the ensuing American land snatching. The tribe got a reservation right where they were already situated and Galloway got a weapon that could turn his foes into ghosts." He explained.
"Yeah, that's called a gun. Guns turn people into ghosts." You flatly stated.
"Yes but you see this weapon... well, why not give you a demonstration?" With that he cocked the hammer back and blasted you right in the chest.
You looked down, horror turning to confusion as you saw no blood, no bullet hole, but instead your body lying on the ground in a heap, another more opaque and translucent you (the one looking) standing over it. The you on the ground looked like you had just gone brain dead, its eyes glazed over and its mouth agape. "You... you killed me!" You shouted, unable to believe what had just transpired.
"No, you're very much alive. Just not in your body at the moment. Would you like to go back?" He asked. Before you could respond he pulled the trigger again without cocking the hammer and with a bright flash of light you were on the floor, now back inside yourself. Before you could say anything the old man explains. "This gun knocks the spirit right out of people, literally! Spirits cannot move or touch anything except other spirits and magical items, so the major would shoot people and take there defenseless bodies back to his camp before pulling the trigger, which undoes everything the revolver has done, to interrogate them."
"Holy shit." You say, getting to your feet. "So basically you can make anyone you want totally helpless?"
"Not only that!" The old man replies. He turns the gun sideways and holds it out to you. You notice that unlike a normal gun the hammer can be pulled back into several positions, each denoted by a notch on the side of the weapon. "Pull back to the first level and you can knock someones soul out and they can't do anything except talk and be seen if they so choose, though they can be completely invisible. Pull back to the second level and they are are removed from there bodies as before, but now there bodies can move! They are mindless drones that obey any command given to them by the whoever is wielding the pistol. The last one, the third notch, is a bit tricky. When you fire it at first nothing will appear to happen. However once fired at a second person the two shall switch souls, and will remain so until they are swapped back with the gun or through other mystical means." He explained.
"That's actually really amazing! So how much is it?" You ask, hoping to get the item for a deal.
"Well, normally I'd say it's $185. But for you... I'll tell you what, I'll let you have the gun for free, however I'm only going to give you one package of bullets, plus the five currently loaded into it. After that I'm charging you double for every bullet. five dollars a pop." He bargained.
"How much is in a package?" You ask.
"Thirty shots." He responds. Wow, he must be really confident in his product if he thinks he can make his money back. You quickly agree and the man hands you the gun and one box of ammunition. As you are walking out of the store, gun tucked away in your backpack the old man calls out. "Wait, there is something of dire importance I must tell you!" He urgently shouts as you are exiting the store. You turn back and with a smile now on his face he condescendingly informs you. "Don't get caught with your pants down! Remember, you only have six shots in there, keep track of that!" You roll your eyes. indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
