This choice: Stay, move inside and start a new life with Kikio • Go Back...Chapter #12Stay, move inside and start a new life with Kikio by: SkylerHusky   You looked Kikio in the eyes and squeezed her paw with your hand as you thought the question over and over in your head, "I-I'm not sure, I've never stopped to think where I'm going or where I'm going to end up, hard enough, or....or-" you started, turning and looking away from her. She shushed you with a digit on your lips and turned your head back to face her again, putting a small kiss on your cheek that made you blush, even in the dark she saw and giggled a little. "Its late, sleep on it and decide in the morning? Does that sound good to you?" She asked to which you nodded, "Yea, the coffee is starting to wear off and exhaustion is making it hard to think straight" Laying back on the hard floor of the APC you felt the tall kitsune lay next to you, resting her head under your chin and snuggling close with her nine soft tails, you pull the blanket up over the two of you and switch off the light, slowly dozing back off the sleep, nothing but the sounds of rain and the soft breathing of Kikio next to you.
For the first time since the world you knew fell apart, you slept peacefully: no nightmares, no violent flashbacks and for once, just dreams and sleep; sleep that went on for hours. You awake to dim light slipping in through the viewports in the Stryker, turning to your side you see Kikio curled up and wrapped up in your covers, your jacket still on her feminine body. You stretch and move towards the back hatch, opening the secondary door in the ramp letting in the cool and damp morning air, in the distance you see the sun beginning to rise, turning the sky a soft color of pink and blue. The rain from the previous night soaking everything, leaving huge puddles in the streets. All around you the abandoned city was silent, dead compared to is previous life, noticing the thermos Kikio brought last night you find some coffee still left over and it was still a little warm. You pour yourself a cup and sit on the doorframe of the hatch, staring up at the sky as the sun rose, a soft noise behind you followed my a pair of arms hugging you in embrace brought you back into focus, you turn as the kitsune set her head on your shoulder, nosing your cheek with her warm nose "Morning~" she said, rubbing your sides a little as she held you. "Did I wake you?" you asked, looking into her glowing eyes, she shook her head and looked up at the rising sun with you, "I like to watch the sun rise, it was something--" you start before Kikio interrupts "something your dad and you did together, before he left for work, he would take you to the docks near your home and watch the sun rise with you" she said, giggling a little and kissing your cheek, "you always liked to tell me every morning, you would sneak out of bed and watch the sun rise when we lived together", slowly her face changed to a sad expression and looked down, "I always watched the sun rise after you vanished, knowing you might be still out there, watching them too and in a way, I was still there with you" she said, her voice quiet and low now as she slipped her tails around you, warming you up from the crisp morning air.
You looked at her with a bit of the same sadness she felt, knowing a part of you was gone or at least hidden from your memories, slowly you grabbed her paw with your hand and gave it a soft kiss, breaking her out of her sad stare for a second, "I've decided to stay, its not fair of me to take you away from others, and I think its time I find a place to call home, dig my roots in and take hold of something; something that I can watch the sun rise with you again" you told her, holding her paw tightly. Tears welled in her eyes again as she listened to you speak, smiling before leaning up to kiss you on the lips now, taking you by surprise, but a welcomed one. She held herself against your lips so long it felt like days passed, but you didn't care, a feeling you haven't experienced in years was flooding you mind as you kissed what seemed like the most beautiful creature you've ever laid your eyes on, and she's chosen you to be her other half. Slowly she pulled away, her eyes closed again as she set her head against yours, making soft murring and cooing noises, "I'm so glad to have you back~" she whispered softly as she embraced you again, you embraced her back, feeling the soft fur against your skin as you wrapped your arms around her body. "I just wish I could understand something~" you whispered into her ear....   indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
