You prepare for the end as the massive foot of a six-year-old boy hangs in the air, making peace with your deity as it plunges down.
Yet it does not land on you! Those gargantuan toes instead drive down into the sandscape before you, weight and force cracking the previously smooth expanse effortlessly. The ground you stand on caves as well, tilting forward, throwing you into a pit of sand and darkness.
Then the foot rises, disgorging so many grains of sand in an explosive kick as it has so many times before. This time you are amongst that payload, helplessly screaming as you are flung into the air at a speed to rival any rollercoaster.
There is helplessness as you fly, but also freedom, no concerns weighing you down. It ends all too soon, your body smacking hard into a grainy surface, leaving you bruised and winded. The kid probably didn't even notice you!
You regain your feet groggily, looking about the sandy platform you stand on. It ends a short distance away, in all directions, roughly circular. Below, a drop. Above...
Above, the face of the boy's sister hangs. As she kneels, she's not that far above the triple-story tower you stand atop, although her eyes are raised to her approaching kin. You get to take in the landscape of her young features, once again in awe of the majesty of something a normal person would take for granted.
No time for too much of that! If you know anything about siblings, sooner or later that boy is going to kick down this very castle, and fate and physics are less likely to be so kind to you a second time around! You have to get down from here, sharpish!
But where to? If you climb to the ground, you'll be just as vulnerable to the coming sandcastle-apocalypse, as its structure collapses around you! Perhaps...
You had sworn that you would survive out here without human aid, but in this extraordinary situation perhaps an exception might be made. The girl is close right now, as close as you could hope for, and unaware of you. You could jump onto her, hold on until the tumult is over, and then drop off later, when it's safe. It may be time to head to the device, undo your shrinkage and look for a less-travelled spot to set up camp.
