"Tara, I'm sorry...But I have to say no." She is holding you very close to her face in the palm of her hand and can hear your speakers decently. Her eyebrows raise and her eyes go a little wide. You felt angering her was dangerous, yet at this point you did trust her greatly. "The last few days, well nights, have been very difficult. I crafted a routine, learned to properly survive out here. And unfortunately, that's been disrupted by you...well your large presence." You motion up at her visage.
For a moment you realize you may have written your death warrant. You'd just kind of insulted Tara, the great creature with insane power over you. You felt comfortable enough around her to say such things, though. You saw her massive lips form into a frown. "I caused you trouble?" She asked innocently. You breathed a sigh of relief, then spoke up quickly. "No, no! You've been amazing. I never even factored in meeting normal sized humans. You've been respectful, helpful, a great person to talk to after me going a little crazy out here alone. Heck! You saved me from Trevorina! I can't thank you enough." She stared a moment "But...?" He sighed once more. "But, if you followed me around with your phone you wouldn't get stories or stuff to remember me by, you'd get a bunch of shots of bugs running away from you. Of nothing really. You kind of dominate the micro world, as strange as that sounds." She had trouble figuring a response but you let her get through her thoughts "Am I really interfering that much just by watching you?" You laugh a moment, and her eyebrow raises. "Tara, you walking shakes the earth on my scale. Your breathing is loud and I smell your toothpaste, or your last meal. You radiate immense heat, any creature down here knows when your nearby. It wouldn't work. Not to mention, none of the bigger creatures will come anywhere near. And maybe more importantly, I don't run around and kill bugs and fight off squirrels. I scavenge, I run...a lot. I grab and go. I'm not conquering nature down here. I'm surviving it."
You look down from the judging gaze of Tara, afraid you'd offended her. You stare at the many lines running along her hand directly beneath your feet. You could only hope she understood. Hope these last two days together went smoothly. You trusted her, but you could only hope that your judgement was correct. "Sorry." The massive mouth before you utterances. "What?" You look up and respond for just a moment. "I am sorry I caused so much disruption to your experiment. I guess I didn't realize my effect on you and the tinier world. I just am so fascinated with this whole thing. I tried to give you space, but I guess that's kind of hard." You nodded a moment, then responded "You kinda dominate the landscape, so yeah, kind of hard."
"I'd love to join you down there. I really would. Unfortunately I'm leaving tomorrow and I have a paper due in a few days. But...can I ask you something?" You nod again, hoping she can see such miniscule movements, but it seems her eyesight is keener than it was last week. "Please make it back in one piece. I so want to see what you've recorded, read your papers, the serious ones and the crazy ones." You turn your head a bit having mentioned some of your rantings. "One day, I want to join in. I love what you want to do, save the world. So get back and grow up and we'll meet again soon." You throw up a thumbs up dramatically, so there can be no misunderstanding. The lips form into a smile, and without much further ado her palm lowers and impacts the ground below. Your signal to depart. You do so slowly, and at the last minute place your palm on the edge of her hand, her massive fingers curl a but in response but stop far short of enclosing you in a fist. You then slide down the side of her hand to the grassy and dirt filled floor below. You notice a tear in the giantesses eye, that she quickly wipes and then raises herself to her feet, reestablishing that imposing height you're becoming familiar with. "I look forward to our next meeting." She booms down to you even though she uses a soft voice. Without more fanfare she departs, boots tearing up the earth and throwing detritus all over as she proceeds to her tent. A part of you felt bad, but now you could finish your experiment. You were just a few hard weeks away. Well, as soon as she left. She was here one more night after all.
