Formerly a feared and respected member of the Balamb Garden Disciplinary Committee, the one-eyed albino Fujin was now a social pariah. After the debacle with Ultimecia and Seifer's complicity in her schemes, the former Garden student and his two cohorts found themselves effectively friendless.
Having never been one for conversation (indeed, one of her most well known personality traits was her habit of speaking entirely in single word statements), Fujin had no trouble with striking out with Seifer and Raijin on their own. However, over time, she couldn't deny a compulsion to finish her time as a Garden student. If the trio were going to support themselves, at least one of them should have a full education, after all. Considering Seifer's issues with authority that kept him from ever becoming a SeeD, and Raijin's... less than mature personality, it was only logical that Fujin be the one to take care of that responsibility.
Bartering her way back into the school hadn't been easy. Fujin had to effectively beggar herself before the Garden leadership, and was only allowed back into the school under a number of strict conditions. Her class load was out of her hands, she wasn't allowed off Garden premises without an escort, and she wasn't even afforded her own dorm room. She instead had to room with a "handler" that made sure she behaved herself. It might not have been so bad if they hadn't decided to pair her up with one of Squall's teammates. Though, perhaps people that had experience with her were a better option than an anonymous student with a grudge against the "traitor."
Fujin had anticipated the harassment she'd face when she returned to Garden, and for the most part was able to ignore it. Most things were small: things tossed at her, names, notes plastered on her desk, the kind of things that angry students could be expected to do. Fujin never imagined that things would escalate, that people's contempt towards her could possibly run so deep as to incite larger things. Perhaps it was this false sense of security that made the events of the day so much worse for the quiet girl.
