You try looking around the small town for a battler and find no one... then a man about your age, bit taller with spiky black hair beneath a base ball cap walks into the lab. You smile "there's always 2 trainers... one main character, one rival." you mutter to yourself. You then look down at the experimental pokeball. "and if I end this here and now... no obnoxious battles in the middle of the team whatever base, No smell ya later... none of that." You wait patiently outside starting to feel as though your the npc rival. Would he have bellossom? if so your in serious shit. Being fully evolved would net him a huge advantage.
He comes out of the lab grinning, having the disheveled look of some one that just spent plenty of quality time with their new pokemon as you could clearly hear from outside. You grin saying. "So... first pokemon?"
The man smiles, "Oh, new trainer as well? What's your name."
You are about to say your real name but then you think about it and decide to go with a rater obscure reference to the stock names of red version "Jack. and yours?"
He says "John. So how does this work, we have them go until submission."
"What?"
"Our pokemon stupid. God fancy getting some one like you as my first rival."
You think about bringing the bet about the looser being trapped in the pokeball.
