Kim wasn't sure why, but she had always assumed that going back to school would be different if she were a teacher instead of a student. And in some ways it was. She had, for example, no friends.
Okay, that wasn't exactly fair. People were sometimes forced to obey her, although grudgingly, and most of the boys in her classes (and many of the girls) paid rapt attention to her when she spoke, but sometimes it felt like they focused less on what she said and more on how her lips moved.
Still, it was a job, and like any job the days blurred together, one nearly indistinguishable from another. Until today.
