"D-damnable heretics!" Deacon Blackfire stammered, a manic look in his eye as he watched the last of his bodyguards get taken down by a flying tackle. "You dare invite the wrath of the Almighty upon you? For it is written, he shall expunge the wicked and plunge them into the fiery-"
"I think I've heard enough," Zatanna declared, readjusting her top hat. "Pu uoy eit!" Ropes shot out from her gloved hands as the incantation took hold, wrapping up the deranged cult leader like a mummy before he could even tip over and fall to the ground. He tried to get out one last biblical condemnation, but a sharp command of "Tuhs ti epat!" put a piece of duct tape over his mouth to finally silence him. Not her flashiest work, admittedly, but it did the trick. Dusting off her jacket, she went over to join Cassandra Cain, currently under the identity of Black Bat, as she finished knocking out the last of Blackfire's brainwashed goon squad.
"One less gang wandering around Gotham," Cassandra said proudly. "Thanks for the assist, Zatanna."
"Always happy to help the Bat family," the magician said with a knowing wink. "Anything else I can do for you before heading out?"
"Well I could use some help returning the loot these guys stole from the Gotham Museum," Cassandra asked, gesturing to the various crates scattered throughout the dingy warehouse.
"Say no more." With a flourish, Zatanna quickly went from box to box, casting simple incantations to return them to their place of origin, polished and repaired without a hint that they'd been pilfered just moments ago. Coming to a particularly wizened looking crate, the magician suddenly hesitated as she approached it.
"Something wrong?" Cass asked as she finished cuffing the last of the thugs.
"I'm getting a strong magical energy read off of this," Zatanna said, holding her hand out. "You said these were museum pieces?"
"Yeah, just arrived from an artifact exchange with Kahndaq, why?"
"Something tells me this is not any ordinary historical artifact," she explained. "Dil eht nepo!" The crate's lid lifted into the air, revealing..."
