In search of water

After pondering for a moment, Lena settled on searching for some water. The pine nuts she had been eating the previous night were dry, and they'd left her parched. She could lap dew off the grass to keep herself mildly hydrated, but that would only last so long as the sun rose higher in the sky, warming the earth. If she was going to make it on her own, she'd need to find some water - and if luck was on her side, maybe she'd even meet another pokémon.
"Alright then," Lena said aloud to herself, "ears open, let's find some running water..."
She set off in the direction of what felt like a downward slope, letting her mind wander, but keeping a casual ear out for any signs of a river. Once, while passing a moss-covered log, she spotted a plump caterpie sunning itself. She considered pouncing on it, but she never could bring herself to eat bugs - the crunching of the carapace and then the sickly goop inside - it made her queasy even to think of it.
Before long, she froze mid-step, ears perked up. She had heard...
